1 READ ME FIRST READ ME FIRST This manual is designed for t wo basic types of users: 1) thos e who are not invo lved in the setup o r maintenance of t he key- panel, but simply want to use it to communicate; and 2) thos e who will use the adv anced features to modify the k eypanel’ s operation and key assignments .

3 CHAPTER 1 Menu List for DKP-8, DKP -12, and KP-12 Keypanels TOP LEVEL MENU. W ith the MENU indicator OFF , turn the SELECT control to view the following items in the call waiting window . MENU ITEM DESCRIPTION --- See “T op Level M enu, - - - - (Clea r call waiting)” on page 15.

5 • Although t he DKP-8 has an exp ansion connector fo r connection of expan sion panels and level control panels , this feature is genera l ly no t used, since the D K P-8 i s a desktop unit, w hile expansion panels and l evel control pan el s are designed for rack mounting.

9 CHAPTER 2 Power -Up and Initial Settings Applying Power V ersions with an AC power connector have a power switch on th e back panel. V ers ions with an external power s upply and DC power jack do not have a p ower switch: plu g in the power s upply to apply p ower .
Pow er-Up and In itial Setti ngs 10 Sett ing the Address 1. While SET ADDR is displayed, tap the SE LECT control. ADDR 1 will display in the call waitin g window . 2. Tu r n t he SELECT control to display the address (ADDR 1 through ADDR 10) that you determined above.
11 CHAPTER 3 Basic Inter com Operation Keys and Displa ys • Keys that are assigned for talk or talk+lis ten are indicated using UP PER CASE le t ter s in the alphanum eric displays above the keys . • Keys that are assigned for listen-only are indicated us ing lower case letters.
Basic Intercom Op eration 12 NOTE : Y ou can adjust the amount of time that displa ys will flash for incoming call indication. See “Menus, SER VICE, T ALL Y” on page 45 . Headset/Speaker/PRGM Select ion and V olume Adjustment Y ou can select operation w ith a head s et (HDST).
13 CHAPTER 4 T elephone Operation NOTE : KP-12 and DKP-12 On ly , Requ ires optional TIF In terface. If the intercom system is equ i pped with an optional TIF telephon e interface, one or mor e intercom keys on the KP-12 keypanel may be ass igned for use as phone keys.
T elepho ne Operation 14 Hanging Up 1. Tu r n t he SELECT contro l to display HANG UP , then tap SELECT . The call waiting window w ill display T AP K EY . 2. Ta p t h e phone k ey . The talk and listen indica tors will turn off and the call will ter minate.
15 CHAPTER 5 Using the T op-Level Menu General De scription When the keypanel is turn ed ON, it resets to the top-level menu. At this level, the MENU indicator is OFF .
Usi ng the T op- Leve l Menu 16 T o p Menu Level, Ca ll List Names As m enti oned previ ousl y , a flashi ng C ALL i n dication occurs when there is an incoming call from a destination and there is no key assigned to talk back to that destination. The destination name flash es in the call waiting window and is added to the call list.
17 T op Level M enu, Display T op Level Menu, Displ ay , KEY ICOM When you select KEY ICOM , the intercom system nam es for all talk key assignments will ap pear in the display above the intercom keys. If there is only one intercom sy stem, the word “ LOCL ” will display to indicate “local interc om”.
Usi ng the T op- Leve l Menu 18 T op Level Menu, Di splay , Listen When you tap LISTEN , the listen key assignment fo r each key will appear in th e alphanumeric display abov e the key . If there is no listen assig nment, the display will show ( - - - - ).
19 T op Level M enu, Key List T op Leve l Menu, Key List When you select Key List , th e list of all currently assigned keys on all 4 setup pages will be scrollable in the call waiting win- dow . T urn the SE LECT control to locate a key assignment. T o talk to the selected key assignment, press and hold the SELECT contro l.
Usi ng the T op- Leve l Menu 20 • If restrict ions against key as signment have been imposed using t he intercom sy stem configuration software, the intercom key may ignore the assi gnment. In this case, contact the intercom system administ rator if you need to make a change.
21 T op Level M enu, Lists 1. T o talk to the selected IFSL, press and hold the SELECT contro l . This will also a dd the IFSL name to the call list for future use . T o assign t he IFSL to an inter com key for future use, press and hold the SELECT co ntrol, then tap an in ter com key .
Usi ng the T op- Leve l Menu 22 1. T o talk to the selected specia l list, pr ess and hold the SE LECT control. 2. T o assign the special list to an intercom key fo r future use, pres s and hold the SELECT control, then tap an intercom key .
23 T op Level Menu, TGL LISN (T oggle Listen ON/OFF) options did not stay with keys as setup page s were change. Th is meant that if you changed setup pages, the key assi gnments on the new active setup page would take on the key op tions from the pr eviously used setup page.

25 CHAPTER 6 Menu Mode Select Contr ol Op eration in Menu Mode • The keypanel normally operates at the to p-level menu. At th is level, the MENU i ndicator is OFF . T o enter menu mode, turn the SELE CT control to display MENUS, then tap the SELE CT control.
Menu Mode 26 Menus, Auto dial (for KP-12 /DKP-12 Only) NOTE : This menu is used to store aut odial numbers. T o assign a key that d ials a specific autodi al number , see page 27. T o use stored autodial n umbers with an all-purpose pho ne key see page 14.
27 Menus, KEY ASGN 10. Use the “Menu s, SER VICE, SA VE CFG” on page 44, to store your changes. Other wise, the autodial numbers will be lost when the KP-12 is turned off. Menu s, KE Y ASG N Menus, KEY ASGN, General Desc ription The K EY ASGN Menu provides g reater flexibility than the top-level menu when assigning keys.
Menu Mode 28 • Auto-function key assignment changes are au tomatically uplo aded to the intercom syst em and saved to the online configurat ion. 3. Double-tap the SELECT control to return to the previous menu level. Or , press and hold the SELE CT contr ol for two seconds to exit the menu mo de.
29 Menus, KEY ASGN T o copy the T ALK assignment, turn th e SELECT contro l to display T ALK, then ta p SELECT . T AP DEST will appear in the call wai ting window . 4. Ta p t h e destin ation ke y (the key you want to copy to ). The call waitin g window will displa y LISTEN.
Menu Mode 30 Menus, KEY ASGN, LISTS General Description This menu gives y ou complete control when setting up key assignments. Y ou can ass ign keys for any of the types of operation s listed i n T able 3 on page 29. Menus, KEY ASG N, LISTS, ICOM ICOM is only selectable for trunked systems.
31 Menus, KEY ASGN Changing a key ’ s assignment has no ef fect on any key opti ons that may already b e assigned to t hat key using “General Descriptio n” on page 35. 6. Menu Mode 34 1. When you select PHONE , the point-to-point scrol l list will display for the currently selected interco m system. 2. Tu r n t he SELECT contro l to locate o ne of the two intercom por ts to which th e TIF is connected, then tap SELECT .
35 Menus, Key Opt Menu 4. Ta p t h e intercom key that you want to assign t he UPL. The name UPL will appear in the display above the key . If restriction s against key assignm ents have been imposed using the in tercom system configu ration software, the inter com key may ignore the assign ment.
Menu Mode 36 2. Tu r n t he SELECT cont rol to display CH IME2 or CHIME3 if des ired, then tap S ELECT . Y ou will hear an audible s ample of the ch ime tone. The call waiting windo w will also display T AP KEYS. 3. Ta p any keys you wan t to assign the chime tone to for incoming calls.
37 Menus, Key Opt Menu 3. Ta p t h e intercom key that will be the group mast er key . The talk and listen indi cator s for the selected key will flash gr een, depend ing on whether talk, listen, or both ar e curr ently setup on the key . This confirms the gr oup master as signment .
Menu Mode 38 Menus, SERVICE MENU General Descrip tion Use this menu to set the log ical keypanel address during instal lation and to set general operati ng features such as display brightnes s, etc. Any chang es you make i n this menu mu st be saved l ocally if you w ant t hem to be retai ned for futur e use.
39 Menus, SE RVICE MENU 1. Select ME NUS, SER VICE, LOCK . The call waiting win dow will display T AP CODE. 2. Enter a 4- digit pass code by tapp ing intercom keys. When the last digit is en ter ed, all displays will b riefly display asterisks whi le the passcode is being stor ed, then the keypanel will r eset to the top level menu .
Menu Mode 40 Menus, SER VICE, MIC GAIN MIC GAIN adjusts mic gain fro m -15dB to +15dB. The default setting is 0dB. 1. T o change the setting, select MI C GAIN . 2. Then, turn the SELE CT control to scroll between -15 dB and +15dB an d then tap SELECT .
41 Menus, SE RVICE MENU T o set up KP-12 an d EKP MOD numbers refer to t he “Proced ure to Assign MODS”, below . Procedure to Assign MODS If the keypanel is currently displaying MD1 in the left side of the call waiting wind ow , skip steps 1 through 3.
Menu Mode 42 Using Mu ltiple Expansion Pan els (KP-12 Only) When using multiple expansion pan els, some MOD numbers may have to be reassigned so that each group of 4 keys has its own uniqu e MOD number . T able X show s the correspondence between MOD number s, key numbers , and setup pages .
43 Menus, SE RVICE MENU 1. After selecting MUT E L VL , tu rn the SELECT control to select either HDPHONE or SPEAKER, then tap SELEC T again. The curr ent mu ting level will display in the call wai ting window . 2. Tu r n t h e SELE CT control to adjust the mute level from -40dB (maximum m uting) to 0dB (no muting).
Menu Mode 44 Menus, SER VICE, OUT CTR L OUT CTRL gives you the choice to lis ten to audio through e ither HEADSET or SPEAKER no matter what MIC is selected on the front of the keypanel. 1. T o change the setting, select OUT CTRL . 2. Then, turn the SELE CT control t o dis play either AUT O, HEADSET , SPEAKER or BOTH and tap SELECT .

Menu Mode 46 • The call waiting window will display T AP KEYS. 4. If yo u tap any inter com key , the display ab ove that key will b riefly displ ay OK. If you tu rn either th e SELECT or V OLUME contr ol, the alphanumeric d isplay above the contr o l will incr ement or decr ement by ones at each deten te.

49 Appendix A KP-12 Audio T ransmit Boar d Connections The new audio t ransmit board (9030 -7725-500), i f used with the new controller board (9030-7725 -000) has digital control for compre ssion setting a nd Mic gain set t ing t hrough the mast er volume encoder of the KP-12.
50 IMPOR T ANT! - If you are using an earlier model KP-12, and your audio transmit board needs to be repl aced, you will need to make the fo llowing adjustm ents with the new audio transmi t board for it to work properly . There are four j umpers on the au dio transmit boar d (9030-7725 -500) - JP1, JP2, JP3, and JP4.
51 Appendix B Replacing the KP-12 Powe r Supply Replacing the KP-12 Powe r Supply These instructions explain how to replace the o l d KP-12 power supply (part number 3 52024-000) with the new p ower supply (part n umber 532088-0 00).
