4 5 n Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when per- forming an operation where the cutting tool may con- tact hidden wiring. Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator. n Know your power tool.

8 9 FEA TURES KNOW YOUR DRILL-DRIVER See Figure 1. Before attempting to use this pr oduct, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. KEYLESS CHUCK The drill-driver has a keyless chuck that allows you to hand tighten or release drill bit in the chuck jaws.
10 11 ASSEMBL Y UNP ACKING This product has been shipped completely assembled. n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. n Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
10 11 OPERA TION n Connect charger to power supply. n Place battery pack in charging stand. Align raised rib on battery pack with groove in charging stand. See Figure 2. n Pr ess down on bat ter y pa ck to be sur e co ntac ts on bat ter y pack engage properly with contacts in charging stand.
12 13 OPERA TION CHARGING A HOT BA TTERY P ACK When using the tool continuously , the batteries in the battery pack will become hot. Y ou should let a hot bat- tery pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting to rechar ge. NOTE: This situation only occurs when continuous use of the drill causes the batteries to become hot.
12 13 OPERA TION INST ALLING BITS See Figures 4 - 5. n Lock the swit ch trigge r by placing the dire ction of rotatio n selector in center position. n Open or close chuck jaws to a point where the opening is slightly larger than the bit size you intend to use.
14 15 SWITCH See Figure 7. T o turn the drill ON , depress the switch trigger . T o tur n it OFF , release the switch trigger . The drill has a two-speed feature in the switch. Depress the switch trigger halfway for driving scr ews at low speed. Depress the switch trigger all the way for normal drilling.
14 15 OPERA TION WARNING: Battery tools are always in operating condition. There- fore, switch should always be locked when not in use or carrying at your side. DRILLING See Figure 10. When drilling har d, smooth surfaces, use a center punch to mark the desired hole location.
16 17 OPERA TION ADJUST ABLE TORQUE CLUTCH See Figure 12. When using the drill-driver for various driving applications, it becomes necessary to incr ease or decrease the torque in order to help prevent the possibility of damaging screw heads, threads, workpiece, etc.
16 17 MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing, use only identical Ryobi replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust.
