Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section helps yo u to quickly start using your device. Understanding T his User Manual The sections of thi s manual generally foll ow the features of your device. A robust index for features begins on page 181.
6 Batter y Y our device is powered by a rechargeable, standard Li-Ion battery . A Wall/USB Charger (Cha rging Head and USB cable) are included with the dev ice for charging the battery . Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the battery before using your device for the first time.

Understanding Y our Device 29 Apps Screen The Apps screen holds all applications on your wireless device. Applications that you download and install from t he Android Market or from the web are al so added to the My apps screen. The Apps icons are arrange d in alphabetic order .
30 Applicati on Infor mation T o view information about an App, such as the amount of storage it is using, force th e App to stop, uninstal l updates, and c lear data: 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps . 2. T ouch and hold an App icon, then drag it to Information to open a screen with details ab out the App.
Understanding Y our Device 31 Downloads : Files, apps, and other items you download in Browser , Gmail, Email, or in other ways, are stored on your tablet’s internal storage. Use the Downloads app to view, reopen, or delete what you ha ve downloaded.
32 Movie Studio : Use Movie Studio to edit the vide os you take with the camcorder or copy onto your tablet into movies. Y ou can cut and order scenes, add a sound track, and so on.

34 Section 3: Entering T e xt This section describes how to ente r words, letters, punctuation and numbers when you need to enter text. Vir tual QWERTY K eyboar d Y our device uses a virtual QWER TY keyboard for text entry . Use the keyboard to enter letters, punctuation, numbers, and other characters into t ext entry fields or applications.
Entering T ext 35 For more information, refer to “Configure Input Methods” on page 150. Entering T ext Using Swype Swype™ is a ne w way to enter text on touch scree ns. Instead of touching each key, use your finger to trace over each letter of a word.
36 • Punctuation : T ouch and hold a key to view a punctuation menu and make a selection. • Accented characters : Just glide through the letters of the w ord. Swype usually recognizes the word and correctly accents the letters. • Error correction : If you make a mistake, doub le-tap on the word you want to change.
Entering T ext 37 Editing K eyboard The Editing Keyboard provides a quick way to move the cursor and highlight text. If the application in which you are working supports editing, you can cut, co py , or paste hi ghlighted text. T o display the Editi ng Keyboard: 1.
38 Entering Upper and Lower Case Letters The default case is lower case (a bc). Enter upper and lower case alphabet letters by to uching the Shift key to toggle the case, before touching th e letter key(s).

40 3. Depending on the action you want to take for the selected text, in the Application bar touch Cut to remove the selected text, Copy to save the selecte d text to the clipboard, or Clipboard to replace the selected text with text previously sa ved to the clipboard.
Entering T ext 41 4. Use your finger tip to wr ite ou t each characte r . Note: T o properly recognize the written characters and to prevent scratching of the LCD, do not use script. As you write, suggestions ar e offered in the word options are a in case the correct letter s were not recognized.

Contacts and Accounts 43 Section 4: Contacts and Accounts This section explains how to manage cont acts and accounts. Accounts Y our device can synchronize with a variety of accounts. With synchronization, information on your device is updated with any information that cha nges in your accounts.

54 • Peak schedule : Set how often to chec k for new e mail sent to th is account duri ng peak times. Options are: Push (Automati c), Manual , every 5 or 15 minute s, or ever y 1, 4, or 12 hours. • Off-peak schedule : Set how often to check for new email sent to this account during o ff-peak times.
Messaging 55 Composin g and Send ing Email 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Email . 2. T o uch an acco unt, if yo u hav e more than one account set up, then touch Compose . 3. T o uch the To field to enter reci pients. As you enter names or email addresses, matching contacts display .

Messaging 57 Incoming Ser ver Settings Y our account’ s incoming settings are different, depending on the kind of email ser vice for the account : POP3, IMAP , or Exchange ActiveSync. • DomainUse rname : If your Exchange ActiveSync s er ver requires that you specify a domain, enter it be fore the backslash.

64 Selecting, Copyi ng, and Pasting T ext 1. From the Home screen, touch Browser . 2. Browse to a webpage. 3. On the webpage, touch and hold on the text until you see the text you want highlighted , then stop touching the screen. The text is highlighted.

Photos and Video 95 Photo Editor The Photo editor a pplication prov ides basic editi ng functions for photos that you take on your phone. Along with basic image tuning like brightness, co ntrast, and color , it also provides a wide variety of effects used for editing the photo.
