Assembling 12 T o install the SIM or USIM card and batt er y , If the device is on, press and hold the P ower key and select 1 P ower off → OK t o turn it off . Remove the back co ver . 2 Be careful not to damage y our fingernails when you remov e the back cov er .
Assembling 13 Inser t the batter y . 4 Replace the back cov er . 5 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time , you must charge the battery . Y ou can charge the device with a trav el adapter or by connecting the device to a PC with a USB cable.
Assembling 14 When your batt er y is low , the device will emit a ● warning tone and display a lo w batter y message. The battery icon will also be empty . If the batter y level becomes too low , the device will automatically pow er off . Recharge your ba tter y to continue using y our device.
Assembling 15 Plug the large end of the tra vel adapter int o a power 2 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charging, but it ma y ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y . While the device is charg ing, the touch scr een may ● not function due to an unstable power supply .
Assembling 16 Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on a 2 PC. Depending on the type of USB cable you are using , it may take some time bef ore charging beg ins. W he n th e ba tt ery i s fu ll y ch ar ge d , fi rs t un pl ug t he U SB 3 cable from the device and then fr om the PC.
Assembling 17 Remove the back co ver . 1 Inser t a memor y card with the gold-coloured contacts 2 facing down. Push the memory card in the memor y card slot until it 3 locks in place. Replace the back cov er . 4 Remov e the memor y card › Before r emoving a memory card, first unmount it for saf e remov al.
Assembling 18 F ormat the memory card › F ormatting your memory card on a PC may cause incompatibilities with y our device. F ormat the memory card only on the device. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → S torage → Unmount SD card → OK → F ormat SD car d → F ormat SD ca rd → Er ase everything .
Getting star ted 19 Getting star ted T urn y our device on and off T o turn on your device , press and hold the P ow er key . If you turn on your device f or the first time, f ollow the on-screen instructions to set up your device . T o turn off your device , press and hold the P ow er key and then select Po wer off → OK .

Getting star ted 26 Get to know the idle screen When the device is in Idle mode , you will see the idle screen. F rom the idle screen, y ou can view indicator icons , widgets, shor tcuts to applications , and other items. The idle screen has multiple panels .
Getting star ted 27 Remov e items from the idle scr een › T ap and hold an item to r emove. 1 The trash bin appears at the bott om of the idle screen.
Getting star ted 28 › Add or r emov e panels to the idle screen Y ou can add or remove panels of the idle scr een to organise widgets accor ding to your pref erences and needs . In Idle mode, press [ 1 ] → Edit . Y ou can also place your two fingers on the screen and pinch to switch to E dit mode.
Getting star ted 29 Select an application. 3 When you use applications pr ovided by Google , you ● must have a Google acc ount. If you do not hav e a Google account, sig n up for a Google account. Y ou can add a shor tcut to an application by tapping ● and holding the application icon fr om the application list.

Getting star ted 31 Use the task manager › Y our device is a multitask ing device. It can run more than one application at the same time . However , multitasking may cause hang-ups, fr eezing, memory problems, or additional power c onsumption. T o avoid these problems , end unnecessary programs using the task manager .
Getting star ted 32 Swit ch to Silent mode › T o mute or unmute y our device, do one of the f ollowing: In Idle mode, open the application list and select ● Phone → Ke ypad and tap and hold # . Open the notifications panel from the t op of the screen and ● select Silent mode .
Getting star ted 33 Adjust the brigh tness of the display › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Displa y → Brigh tness . Clear the check box next to 2 Aut omatic brightness . Drag the slider to adjust the lev el of brightness.
Getting star ted 34 Set an unlock PIN code In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → L ocation and security → Set up screen lock → PIN . Enter a new PIN (numeric) and select 2 Con tinue . Enter the PIN again and select 3 OK .
Getting star ted 35 › Activat e the Find m y mobile f eature When someone inserts a new SIM or USIM card in your device, the F ind m y mobile featur e will automatically send the contact number to specified recipients t o help you locate and reco ver your device .
Getting star ted 36 Change the keyboar d type › Y ou can change the keyboard type. T ap and hold the text input field and select Input method → a keyboard type (Samsung keypad or Swype).

F iles you download fr om the web can include viruses that will damage your devic e. T o lessen your risk, only download files from sour ces you trust.

Communication 43 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options av ailable during a call or customising and using call-relat ed features . Y ou can take photos at r esolutions up to 2560 x 1920 pixels (5 megapixels) and videos at r esolutions up to 1280 x 720 pixels . The camera automa tically turns off when you do not ● use it for a specified period.
