Basics 10 Charg ing the batter y Charge the batt er y befor e using it for the first time or when it has been unused f or ex tended periods. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers , batteries, and cables. Unappr oved chargers or cables can cause the battery to explode or damage the device.
Basics 11 3 After fully charging , disconnect the device from the charger . First unplug the char ger from the device , and then unplug it from the electr ic socket.
Basics 12 Batter y charg ing tips and precautions • When the battery power is low , the ba tter y icon appears empty . • If the batter y is completely dischar ged, the device cannot be turned on immediat ely when the charger is connected. A llow a depleted batt er y to char ge for a f ew minutes befor e tur ning on the device .
Basics 13 Ultra po wer sa ving mode Use this mode to extend the device ’ s battery power . I n ultra pow er saving mode , the device per forms the follo wing: • Restric ts the available apps t o essential and selected apps only . • Deactivates the mobile data connection when the screen turns off .

Basics 17 Memor y card Installing a memor y card Y our device acc epts memor y cards with maximum capacities of 128 GB. Depending on the memor y card manufacturer and type, some memory cards may not be compatible with y our device . • Some memor y cards may not be fully compa tible with the device .
Basics 18 Removing the memor y card Befor e removing the memory card, first unmount it f or safe remo val. On the Home screen, tap Apps → Settings → Stor age → Unmount SD card . 1 Remove the back c over and ba tter y . 2 Pull out the memory card.
Basics 19 T ouchscreen • Do not allow the touchscr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touchscr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touchscr een, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.
Basics 20 Dragging T o move an it em, tap and hold it and drag it to the target position. Double -tapping Double -tap on a webpage or image to zoom in.
Basics 21 Swiping Swipe to the left or right on the Home screen or the Apps scr een to view other panels. Swipe upwar ds or down wards t o scroll thr ough a webpage or a list of items , such as contac ts. Spreading and pinching Spread two fingers apart on a webpage, map , or image to zoom in a part.
Basics 22 Home screen Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for acc essing all of the device’ s featur es. I t display s widgets, shortcuts to apps, and mor e. T o view other panels, swipe to the left or right, or tap one of the scr een indicators at the bottom of the screen.
Basics 23 Home screen options On the Home screen, tap and hold an empty area, or pinch y our fingers together to ac cess the available options . Customise the Home screen b y adding, deleting , or rearranging Home screen panels . Y ou can also set the Home screen wallpaper , add widgets to the Home screen, and more .
Basics 24 Crea ting folders 1 On the Home screen, tap and hold an app , and then drag it over another app . 2 Drop the app when a f older frame appears around the apps. A new folder c ontaining the selected apps will be created . 3 Enter a f older name.
Basics 25 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap Apps to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels, swipe to the left or right, or selec t a screen indicat or at the bottom of the screen.

Basics 29 Y ou can use the following functions on the notification panel. ► Single SIM models : Launch Settings . T ap a notification and per form various actions. Clear all notifications. Maximise brightness for better visibility in bright conditions.

Basics 32 Screen captur e Capture a scr eenshot while using the device. Pr ess and hold the Home key and the Po wer key simultaneously . Y ou can view captured images in Galler y . It is not possible to capture a screenshot while using some apps and f eatures.
Basics 33 T ransferring da ta from a mobile device T ransf er data from your pr evious device to y our new device. Download and install Smar t Switch fr om Galax y Apps or Play St ore . Launch Smar t Swit ch and follo w the on-screen instructions to transf er data from y our previous device .
Basics 34 Using the de vice as a r emovable disk f or data tr ansfer Move audio , video , image, or other types of files from the devic e to the computer , or vice versa. Do not disconnect the USB cable from the device when you ar e transferring files.

Applications 37 Managing apps Uninstalling or disabling apps On the Apps screen, tap EDIT . The icon appears on the apps that y ou can disable or uninstall. Select an app and tap DISABLE or OK . Alternativ ely , on the Apps screen, tap Settings → Applications → Application manager , select an app, and then tap DISABLE or UNINST ALL .

Applications 63 R adio Listening to the F M radio T ap Radio on the Apps screen. Befor e you use this app , you must connect a headset, which ser ves as the radio ant enna. The F M radio scans and saves av ailable stations automatically when running f or the first time.
Applications 64 Google apps Google provides ent er tainment, social net work, and business apps. Y ou may require a Google account t o access some apps. Refer t o Ac counts f or more inf or mation. T o view more app inf or mation, acc ess each app ’ s help menu.

66 Settings Introduction Cust omise settings for functions and apps. Y ou can make your device more personalised b y configuring various setting options. On the Apps screen, tap Settings . T o search f or settings by entering keywords, tap SEARCH . T o edit the list of frequently used settings , tap EDIT .
Settings 67 W i-F i D irect Wi-F i Direct connects devices directly via a Wi-F i network without requiring an access point . 1 On the Settings screen, tap Wi - Fi , and then tap the switch to activate it. 2 T ap W i-Fi Direct . The detected devices ar e listed.
Settings 68 Bluetooth Introduction Use Bluetooth t o exchange da ta or media files with other Bluetooth-enabled devices. • Samsung is not responsible f or the loss, int erception, or misuse of da ta sent or receiv ed via Bluetooth. • Alway s ensure that y ou share and receiv e data with devices that ar e trusted and properly secured .
Settings 69 Sending and receiving da ta Many apps support data transfer via Bluetooth. Y ou can share data, such as contacts or media files, with other Bluetooth devic es. The follo wing ac tions are an example of sending an image to another device . 1 T ap Galler y on the Apps screen.
Settings 70 Mobile hotspot and tethering Use the device as a mobile hotspot t o share the device ’ s mobile data connection with other devices when the network connection is not available . Connections can be made via Wi-F i , USB, or Bluet ooth. On the Settings screen, tap Mobile hotspot and tethering .
Settings 71 Data usage Keep track of your da ta usage amount and customise the settings f or the limitation. On the Settings screen, tap Data usage . • Mobile data : Set the device to use data connections on any mobile network. • Set mobile data limit : Set a limit for mobile data usage .
Settings 72 Mobile net w orks Configur e your mobile network settings . On the Settings screen, tap Mobile networks . • Data roaming : Set the device to use data connections when you ar e roaming. • Ac cess Poin t Names : Set up access point names ( APNs).
