Getting star ted 8 • Do not cov er the antenna ar ea with your hands or other objects. This ma y cause connectivity problems or drain the battery . • Using a Samsung-appro ved scr een protector is rec ommended. Unapprov ed screen protectors may cause the sensors t o malfunc tion.
Getting star ted 9 Char ging the ba tter y Use the charger t o charge the battery before using it f or the first time. A computer can be also used to charge the ba tter y by connecting them via the USB cable. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers , batteries, and cables.
Getting star ted 10 2 Plug the USB pow er adaptor into an electr ic socket. • The device can be used while it is char ging , but it may take longer to fully char ge the battery . • If the device receiv es an unstable power supply while charging , the touch screen may not function.
Getting star ted 11 U sing a memor y card Installing a memor y card Y our devic e accepts memory cards with maximum capacities of 128 GB. Depending on the memor y card manufacturer and type, some memory cards may not be compatible with y our device . • Some memor y cards may not be fully compa tible with the device .
Getting star ted 12 Removing the memor y card Befor e removing the memory card, first unmount it f or safe remo val. On the Home scr een, tap Apps → Settings → Stor age → Unmount SD card . 1 Open the cov er of the memor y card slot. 2 Push the memory card until it disengages from the devic e, and then pull it out.
Getting star ted 13 L ock ing and unlock ing the screen Pr essing the Po wer button turns off the scr een and locks it. Also , the screen turns off and automatically locks if the device is not used f or a specified period.
14 Basics U sing the touch scr een • Do not allow the touch scr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch scr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touch screen, do not tap it with an ything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.
Basics 15 T apping and holding T ap and hold an item or the screen f or more than 2 seconds to ac cess available options . Dragging T o mov e an item, tap and hold it and drag it to the target position.
Basics 16 Double -tapping Double -tap on a webpage or image to zoom in. Double-tap again to return. F licking Flick left or right on the Home screen or the A pps screen to see another panel . Flick up or down to scr oll through a webpage or a list of items , such as contacts.
Basics 17 Home screen la y out Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for acc essing all of the device’ s featur es. I t display s widgets, shortcuts to apps, and mor e. Widgets are small apps that launch specific app functions to provide inf or mation and con venient access on y our Home screen.

Basics 19 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap Apps to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels , scroll left or right, or select a screen indicator at the bott om of the screen.
Basics 20 Indicator ic ons Indicator icons appear on the status bar at the t op of the screen. The icons listed in the table below are most c ommon. The status bar ma y not appear at the top of the scr een in some apps. T o display the status bar , drag down from the t op of the screen.
Basics 21 Notifications panel Using the notifica tions panel When you r eceive new notifications, such as messages , indicator icons appear on the status bar . T o see more inf ormation about the icons, open the notifica tions panel and view the details.
Basics 22 Rearranging quick setting butt ons T o rearr ange quick setting buttons on the notifications panel, tap EDIT , tap and hold an item, drag the item to another loca tion, and then tap DONE . Using the quick setting butt ons Y ou can ac tivate or deactivate some f eatures on the notifications panel.

30 Motions & usabilit y f eatur es Motions and gestures Exc essive shaking or impac t on the device ma y result in unintended inputs . Control motions properly . Mute On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Motions and gestures , and then tap the Mute switch to activate it.

Place the side of y our hand on the screen and sw eep it across the scr een from the right to the left or vice versa to captur e a screenshot.

P ersonalising 41 Multiple users Set up additional user accounts f or other users to use the device with personalised settings, such as email accounts , wallpaper prefer ences, and more .
P ersonalising 42 Managing users When using the owner ac count, y ou can delete accoun ts or change the settings for r estr icted accounts . T o change the settings , on the Apps screen, tap Settings → Users and tap next to an account . Then, select or deselec t apps and cont ent to allow or r estric t the account’ s access to them.

Camera 46 Launching Camer a on the locked screen T o quickly take photos of special moments, launch Camer a on the locked screen. On the locked screen, drag outside the large cir cle. This f eature ma y not be available depending on the r egion or ser vice provider .
Camera 47 C ontinuous shot Use this mode to take a series of photos of mo ving subjects. On the Apps screen, tap Camer a → MODE → Con tinuous shot . T ap and hold to take sever al photos continuously . Beauty face Use this mode to take a phot o with lightened faces f or gentler images.
Camera 48 Camer a settings On the Apps screen, tap Camer a → SET TINGS . Not all of the follo wing options are av ailable in both still camera and video camera modes . • Picture size (r ear) / Picture size (fr ont) : Selec t a resolution. Higher resolutions r esult in higher quality photos, how ever they will take up more memor y .

Use Bluetooth to ex change data or media files with other devices. • Samsung is not responsible f or the loss, int erception, or misuse of da ta sent or receiv ed via Bluetooth.
Connecting with other devices 64 P airing with other Bluetooth devices 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Bluetooth , and then tap the switch to activate it. The detected devices ar e listed. 2 Selec t a device to pair with. If your device has paired with the devic e before , tap the device name without confirming the auto- generated passkey .
