Getting star ted 11 Removing the SIM or USIM car d 1 Open the cov er of the SIM card slot. 2 Pr ess the SIM or USIM card with your finger , and then pull it out. 3 Close the cov er of the SIM card slot. Charg ing the batter y Use the charger t o charge the battery before using it f or the first time.
Getting star ted 12 Connect the USB cable to the USB pow er adaptor and then plug the end of the USB cable into the multipurpose jack . Connecting the charger improperly ma y cause serious damage to the device . Any damage caused by misuse is not co ver ed by the warranty .
Getting star ted 13 Reducing the battery consumption Y our device pr ovides options that help y ou sav e the batter y pow er . By customising these options and deactivating featur es in the background, y ou can use the device longer between charges: • When you ar e not using the device, switch to sleep mode b y pressing the P ower butt on.
Getting star ted 14 1 Open the cov er of the memor y card slot. 2 Inser t a memor y card with the gold- colour ed contacts facing downw ards . 3 Push the memory card into the slot until it locks in plac e. 4 Close the cov er of the memor y card slot. Removing the memor y card Befor e removing the memory card, first unmount it f or safe remo val.
Getting star ted 15 F ormatting the memor y card A memor y card f or matted on a c omputer may not be c ompatible with the device . F ormat the memor y card on the device . On the Home screen, tap → Settings → General → Stor age → F ormat SD card → F ormat SD card → Erase ev er ything .
Getting star ted 16 L ock ing and unlock ing the screen Pr essing the Po wer button turns off the scr een and locks it. Also , the screen turns off and automatically locks if the device is not used f or a specified period.
17 Basics U sing the touch scr een • Do not allow the touch scr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch scr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touch scr een, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.
Basics 18 T apping and holding T ap and hold an item or the screen f or more than 2 seconds to access a vailable options. Dragging T o move an it em, tap and hold it and drag it to the target position. Double -tapping Double -tap on a webpage or image to zoom in.
Basics 19 F licking Flick left or right on the Home screen or the A pps screen to see another panel . Flick up or down to scr oll through a webpage or a list of items , such as contacts. Spreading and pinching Spread two fingers apart on a webpage, map , or image to zoom in a part.
Basics 20 Home screen la y out Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for acc essing all of the device’ s featur es. The Home screen has two diff erent k inds of panels. The Classic Home screen panel display s widgets, shor tcuts to apps , and more, and the Con tent Home scr een panel displays C ontent widgets.
Basics 21 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels, scr oll left or right, or select a screen indicator at the bottom of the scr een.
Basics 22 Indicator ic ons Indicator icons appear on the status bar at the t op of the screen. T he icons listed in the table below are most c ommon. The status bar ma y not appear at the top of the scr een in some apps. T o display the status bar , drag down from the top of the scr een.

Network connectivit y 37 Adding Wi - Fi networks If the desired network does not appear in the Wi-F i networks list, tap Add W i-F i net work at the bottom of the list. Ent er the network name in Network SSID , select the securit y type and enter the passw ord if it is not an open network, and then tap Connect .
Network connectivit y 38 Download boost er Use this f eature t o download large files fast er via Wi-F i and mobile networks simultaneously . A stronger Wi-F i signal will provide a faster do wnload speed. On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Connections → Download booster , and then tap the Download booster switch to activate it.
Network connectivit y 39 Using the mobile hotspot Use your devic e as a mobile hotspot to share your device ’ s mobile data connec tion with other devices. 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Connections → T ethering and Mobile hotspot → Mobile hotspot .
Network connectivit y 40 Using Bluet ooth tethering Share the device ’ s mobile data connec tion with other devices via Bluet ooth. Ensure that the computer that y ou connec t to supports the Bluetooth featur e. 1 P air your device with the other device via Bluetooth.

P ersonalising 56 Changing the scr een lock method Y ou can change the way that you lock the scr een to prevent others fr om accessing your personal information. On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Device → Lock scr een → Screen lock , and then select a screen lock method .
P ersonalising 57 P assword A passwor d consists of characters and numbers. En ter at least f our characters including numbers and symbols, and then ent er the passwor d again to verify it.
P ersonalising 58 Registering fingerprints 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Device → F inger S canner → F ingerprint manager . 2 If you are r egistering more fingerprints , a finger print rec ognition pop-up window appears. Scan a reg istered fingerprint on the devic e and tap .
P ersonalising 59 Managing reg ister ed fingerprints Y ou can delete or rename your r egistered fingerprints. On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Device → F inger S canner → F ingerprint manager . T o delete fingerprints, tap → Deregist er , select fingerpr ints , and then tap → OK .
P ersonalising 60 P rivate mode About priva te mode Use this mode to pr event others from using or acc essing specific conten t, such as images and documents, st ored on the device . Y ou can save conten t to a specific location and deactivate private mode to hide it ems securely .
P ersonalising 61 V iewing hidden cont ent Y ou can only view hidden items when private mode is activated. 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Device → Priv ate mode , and then tap the Private mode switch to activate it. A lternatively , open the quick setting panel and tap Private mode to activate it.

65 Phone Mak ing calls T ap Phone on the Apps screen. T ap Phone , enter a phone number , and then tap to make a voic e call, or tap to make a video call. Y ou can also make calls to phone numbers listed in Groups , F av ourites , and Con tacts . View fa vourite contacts.
Phone 66 Mak ing calls from call logs or c ontac ts list T ap Phone or Con tacts , and then drag a contact or a phone number to the right to make a call. Mak ing calls from the fa vourites list Y ou can easily call contacts that you communicate with fr equently by adding them to the fav ourite contacts list.
Phone 67 Speed dial numbers T ap Phone . F or speed dial numbers, tap and hold the corresponding dig it. T o assign a contact to a speed dial number , tap and hold an available speed dial number on the keypad, tap OK , and then select a contact. Multimedia 98 T o listen to songs at equal v olume levels, tap → Settings → Adv anced , and then tick Smar t volume . When Smar t volume is activated, the v olume may end up louder than the device volume lev el. Use caution t o av oid long-term exposure t o loud sounds to prev ent damage to your hearing .
