Getting star ted 13 Using dual SIM or USIM car ds (dual SIM models) If you inser t two SIM or USIM cards , you can have two phone numbers or service providers f or a single device . Activating SIM or USIM car ds On the Home screen, tap → Settings → SIM card manager .
Getting star ted 14 Charg ing the batter y Use the charger t o charge the battery before using it f or the first time. A computer can be also used to charge the ba tter y by connecting them via the USB cable. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers , batteries, and cables.
Getting star ted 15 • The device can be used while it is char ging , but it may take longer to fully char ge the battery . • If the device receiv es an unstable power supply while charging , the touch screen may not function. If this happens, unplug the charger from the devic e.
Getting star ted 16 U sing a memor y card Installing a memor y card Y our device acc epts memor y cards with maximum capacities of 32 GB. Depending on the memor y card manufacturer and type, some memory cards may not be compatible with y our device . • Some memor y cards may not be fully compa tible with the device .
Getting star ted 17 Removing the memor y card Befor e removing the memory card, first unmount it f or safe remo val. On the Home scr een, tap → Settings → Stor age → Unmount SD card . 1 Remove the back c over . 2 Pull out the memory card. 3 Replace the back cov er .
Getting star ted 18 T urning the devic e on and off Pr ess and hold the Po wer button f or a few seconds to turn on the device . When you turn on y our device f or the first time or after per forming a data reset, f ollow the on- screen instructions to set up your devic e.
Getting star ted 19 L ock ing and unlock ing the screen Pr essing the Po wer button turns off the scr een and locks it. Also , the screen turns off and automatically locks if the device is not used f or a specified period.
20 Basics U sing the touch scr een • Do not allow the touch scr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch scr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touch scr een, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.
Basics 21 T apping and holding T ap and hold an item or the screen f or more than 2 seconds to access a vailable options. Dragging T o move an it em, tap and hold it and drag it to the target position. Double -tapping Double -tap on a webpage or image to zoom in.
Basics 22 F licking Flick left or right on the Home screen or the A pps screen to see another panel . Flick up or down to scr oll through a webpage or a list of items , such as contacts. Spreading and pinching Spread two fingers apart on a webpage, map , or image to zoom in a part.
Basics 23 Home screen la y out Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for acc essing all of the device’ s featur es. It displays widgets, shortcuts to apps, and mor e. W idgets are small apps that launch specific app functions to provide inf or mation and con venient access on y our Home screen.

Basics 25 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels, scr oll left or right, or select a screen indicator at the bottom of the scr een.
Basics 26 Indicator ic ons Indicator icons appear on the status bar at the t op of the screen. T he icons listed in the table below are most c ommon. The status bar ma y not appear at the top of the scr een in some apps. T o display the status bar , drag down from the top of the scr een.
Basics 27 Notifications panel Using the notifica tions panel When you r eceive new notifications, such as messages or missed calls , indicator icons appear on the status bar . T o see more information about the icons , open the notifications panel and view the details.

Network connectivit y 36 Adding Wi - Fi networks If the desired network does not appear in the Wi-F i networks list, tap Add W i-F i net work at the bottom of the networks list. Enter the network name in Network SSID , select the securit y type and enter the passwor d if it is not an open network, and then tap Connect .
Network connectivit y 37 Using the Mobile hotspot Use your devic e as a mobile hotspot to share your device ’ s mobile data connection with other devices. 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → T ethering and M obile hotspot → Mobile hotspot . 2 T ap the Mobile hotspot switch to activate it.
Network connectivit y 38 Using Bluet ooth tethering Share the device ’ s mobile data connection with other devices via Bluetooth. Ensur e that the computer that y ou connec t to supports the Bluetooth featur e. 1 P air your device with the other device via Bluetooth.

P ersonalising 41 Managing folders T o rename a f older , select a folder , and then tap the existing f older name. Enter a new name for the f older and tap Done . T o change the colour of a f older , select a folder , tap , and then select a colour .
