6 Batter y Y our device is powered by a rechargeable, standard Li-Ion battery . A Wall/USB Charger (Cha rging Head and USB cable) are included with the dev ice for charging the battery . Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the batter y before using your device for the first time.

18 Home Screen The Home screen is the starting point for using your device. Note: Unless stated otherwise, instructions in this user manual start with the device unlocked, at the Home screen. 1. Google and Voice Search : Search your tablet and the web by typing or speaking.

20 Note: Network status icons turn blue if you have a Google Account added to your tablet and the tablet is connected to Google services for syncing your Gmail, Calendar events, contacts, backing up your settings, and so on.

Entering T ext 41 • Auto-capitalization : Swype recognizes and capitalizes the first word of sentences. If you want to c apitalize a word that is not at the beginning of a sentence, just glide above the keyboard before gliding over the next letter .
42 Editin g Keyboard The Editing Keyboard provides a qui ck way to move the cursor and highlight text. If the applic ation in which you are workin g supports editing, you can cut, co py , or paste highlighted text. T o display the Editing Keyboard: 1.

46 Using the Handwriting F eature Y ou can enter text simply by using your finger to ha ndw rite letters on your screen. 1. If necessa ry, touch Configure input methods in the Status bar and then touch Samsung keypad .
Entering T ext 47 Handwriting Tips • For upperca se letters, write the letter larger than the lowercase letters. • Write a dash (horizontal line) to add a space. • Delete words by sweeping backw ard across them. • T o display numbers and symbols, touch and then touch a number or symbol key .
48 Using Speech R ecognition Y ou can use your voice to enter te xt using the V oice input feature, which lets you enter text by speaking. The Sa msung key board recognizes your sp eech and enters text for you. Note: T o enable Voice Input , touch Settings ➔ Voice input .
Contacts and Accounts 49 Section 4: Contacts and Accounts This section explains how to manage cont acts and accounts. Accounts Y our device can synchronize with a variety of accounts. With synchronization, information on your device is updated with any information that cha nges in your accounts.

76 Latitude With Google Latitud e, you can see the location of a ll of your friends on a map or on a list. Y o u can also share or hide your location. Y ou must first set up your tablet to use wireless networks to help pinpoint your location. Also, Lati tude works best when Wi-Fi is enabled.

Photos and Video 93 Camera Settings Before you start ta king photos, use the camera settings to configure the camera for best results. Camera settings are represented by icons on the left side of the screen. The first five icons are actually shortcuts to camera settings.
94 • Outdoor visibility : When taking outdoor shots in bright s ettings, enabling Outdoor visibility Illum inates your screen to make it easier to see what you are shooting. Note: What you see on screen will not correspond to the luminance of the actual photograph taken.
