Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains ho w to start using your phone by activating your service , setting up your Voicemai l, and getting an understanding of how this manual is put together .
6 Notes and T ips Throughout this manual some text is set apart from the rest. In this way , impo rtant information, qui ck methods for activating fe atures, to define terms, and more are empha sized. Getting Started 7 hours of charge time. After the fi rst charge, you can use the phone while charging. Warn ing!: Use only Samsung-approved charging devices and batteries. Samsung accessories are designed to maximize battery life. Using other accessories may void your warranty and may cause damage.
8 Installing the Ba tter y 1. Remove the batte ry cover . See “Removing the Cover” on page 7. 2. Insert the top end of the battery into the phone, aligning the gold contacts on the top of the ba tte ry with phone’s gold contacts. 3. Press on the botto m end of the battery until i t slips into plac e.
Getting Started 9 Tr av e l A d a p t e r The travel adapter included with yo ur phone is a convenient, charger that rapidly charges your phon e from any 120/220 V AC outlet. Char ging t he Batter y Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the ba ttery before using your phone for the first time.

20 Home Screen The Home screens are your starting point f or using the features o f your phone. Y our phone inc ludes 3 Home screens, which you can customize by plac ing widgets and changing wallpaper . Caution!: Y our touch screen responds best to a light touch from the pad of your finger or a non-metallic stylus.

26 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make, an swer and end calls, and other call-related f eatures. Making Calls Y our phone offers multip le ways to make calls: • Use the touchscreen Dialer to enter a tel ephone or speed dial number .
Call Functions 27 Making a Call Using Speed Dia l Use Speed Dial ing to call to any stored Conta ct by dialing the Contact’ s assigned 1-, 2- or 3-digit speed dial number . Note: T o use Speed Dialing, you must enable One T ouch Dial in Phone Settings.
28 Thr ee-W ay Calling Call two numbers and connect them using Three-W ay calling. 1. In Standby mode, tap Dialer to display the Dialer . 2. Enter the number for the first party and press . 3. While the first call is in progre ss, ask the other party to remain on the line, th en tap the Dialer bu tton.

Messaging 43 Section 5: Messaging This section explains ho w to send and receive messages, and other features and functional ity related to messaging. Y our phone can send and receive T ext Messages (als o known as SMS) and Picture Messages and Video Messages (also known as MMS).

Drafts The Drafts folder stores messages th at have not been sent. Return to the Drafts fo lder at any time to vi ew , edit, or send a draft message.
50 Message Settings Use Message Settings to define settings for your messages. 1. Standby mode, tap Menu ➔ Menu 1 ➔ Messaging . The Messaging menu appears in the display .

54 Resolut ion : Set the image si ze, from 1600x1200 , 1280x960 , 640x480 , or 320x240 . Brightness : Adjust the bright ness of the photo. Quick View : • Back : Return to the previous screen or option. • Slide Show : View pictures as a slide show .
Pictures and Vide o 55 Pictures Use Pictures to view , edit and manage pictures s tored on your phon e or on an optional installe d memory card. 1. From Standby mode, tap Menu ➔ Multimed ia ➔ Pictures . 2. Browse pictures by swiping up or down on the screen.
