15 Getting to know your phone Antenna The antenna is a device fo r transmitting and receivin g signals. The shape and size of the antenna is determined, in part, by the f requency of the signals that they receive. An antenna makes the call sound clearer when it i s fully extended.
16 T alk key The key perf orms several useful functions: • Press once to answer call s. • Enter a number and press once to connect a call. • Press twice in standby mode to redi al the last outgoing number . Navigation The Navigation key allows you to loca te different menu opt ions by pressing in the appropriate direction.
17 LED indicator The LED indicator flashes to indi cate an incoming cal l or message. When you have the phone ringer set to off, the LED indicator notifies you of an incoming call or message. • The LED indicator lights momentarily when you power up the phone.
18 Service indicator : This icon indicates a ca ll is in progress. When the phone is calling a number , this icon will fl ash until the call is connected. No service indicator : This ic on indicate s your phone cannot fi nd a signal because you’re outside a servic e area.
19 Installing the battery Note: Your phone comes packag ed with a partially charged rechargeable standard Li-Ion battery and travel adapter . The phone can b e used while the battery is charging, but must be fully charged the first ti me you use your phone otherwise the battery could be damaged.
20 Charging the battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable standard Li-Ion batte ry . Only use Samsung-approved travel adaptors and batteries. These adaptors are designed to maximize battery life. Using other adaptors may invalidate your warranty and may cause damage.
21 4. Y ou can make a phone call when the phone is plugged into the travel adaptor . The adaptor will continue to charge the battery even when you are making the call.
22 Lock mode When you lock your phone using the Lock Mode menu option, you restrict phone usage. Y ou c an receive messages and calls, but you cannot make an outgoing call until your phone is unlocked. You can unlock your phone, by following the prompts and entering the lock code.
23 Messages can also be received when in standby mode, the alert tone will sound when a new message is rece ived. The menu is a ccessed when you are in standby mode by pressing . T alk mode Y ou can place and answer calls only w hen your phone is turned on.
24 T urning your phone on T o turn your phone on: 1. Fully extend the antenna for the clearest reception. 2. Press and hold for more than two seconds. Note: Your phone has a built-in antenna.

28 Accessing menus using the navigation key • Menu options are numbered but can al so be accessed by using the navigation key . • Press right to view the Call History options. • Press up or down for your Phone Book entries. • Press left for Month View .

30 Y our phone has several convenient options for when yo u miss a call: • Press to call the displayed number . • Press to clear the Missed Call message from the display . • View your Missed calls log. Erase history Y ou can erase any one of the call directories (Outgoing , Incoming, or Missed), or you can erase all three directories.
31 • Press for Erase History . • Press for Air T ime . 4. When the call log option di splays, press to locate the call information you require. If there is a Ph one Book match, the name displays. If there is no Phone Book match, only the phone number will display .

33 Call waiting Y our phone beeps when anot her call is coming in. T o answer this call: 1. Press . When connected, ask them to remain on the line or , request to call back later . 2. Press and they will be placed on hold. Y ou are now connected to your original call.
34 Note: You may need to contact your service carrier to s et up Call waiting, Caller I.D., and Three way calling. Wireless web Y our phone comes equipped with Wireless Web Internet access through a MiniBrowser . The MiniBrowser displays immediate information through your phone.

37 Navigating the web When you use the MiniBrowser , some of the keys on your keypad will operate differently than during a normal phone call. The MiniBrowser presents on-screen items in any of the fo.
38 0/Next: Press this key to enter a 0, or to move to the next word when in T9 predictive word e ntry mode. Pound/Space: Press this key to insert a space when entering text. Numbers 1 - 9: If items on a menu are numbered, these keys can be used to select them.
39 Phone Book Y our phone permits you to store up to 250 numbers and names in the Phone Book. Each entry can ha ve up to 6 associated phone numbers and one e-mail address. Each entry can c ontain up to 32 digits i ncluding hard pauses, with a n associated name of up to 12 charac ters.
40 Add new entry T o add a new entry: 1. In standby mode, pre ss to display the Main menu. 2. Press for the Phone Book . 3. Press for Add new entry . 4. Input your info rmation and press . 5. Y ou can press t o return to the previous menu at a ny time.

42 Editing phone book numbers Once stored in the Phone Book, an entry can be changed quite ea sily . T o change a Phone Book entry: 1. In standby mode, pre ss to display the Main menu. 2. Press for Phone Book . 3. Press for Find Name . 4. Press to highlight the e ntry requiring editing.
43 • T pause: A 2 second pause stops the calling se quence for 2 seconds and then automatically sends the rema ining digits. Note: Multiple 2 second pauses can be entered to extend the length of a pause. For example, 2 consecutive 2 second pauses cause a total pause time of 4 seconds.
44 Manual pause calling T o manually call a number with pause(s) without storing to the Phone Book: 1. Enter the phone number of the service you want to call (such as a bank’ s teleservice phone number). Begin by entering the number 1. 2. Press to display the pause Menu optio ns.

60 Data/fax Y our phone is capable of sending and rece iving digital da ta and fax calls when connected to a computing device (laptop, desktop, hand held, palmtop, etc.

In the Fax program on your PC se t up Answe r Mode . Click on Receive and select either Automatic Receive (recommended), or Manual Receive .

63 Month view Scheduler functions allow you to sche dule personal events a nd view them in an easily read format. How to schedule an event 1. In standby mode, pre ss to display the Mai n menu. 2. Press for Calendar . 3. Press for Month View . 4. Press to select Vi e w , or Add New .
64 4. Press to highlight the follow ing options: • Add New: Allows you to add an event • Edit: Allows you to edit an event • Erase: Allows you to erase an event 5. Press to select the option of choice, and complete the exercise by following the prompts.
65 Jump to date Jump T o Date allows you to specify the calendar date you want to view . Y ou can enter , edit, and/or erase events in your calendar . Using jump to date: 1. In standby mode, press . 2. Press for Calendar . 3. Press for Jump T o Date .
66 3. Press . 4. Enter the date an d time you want t o “ Count Down ” to. For exa mple: if today’ s date is April 1, 2001 and yo u want to know how many months, days, and hours remain before 7:00 P .M. Februa ry 14th 2002, enter the time 07:00 P .
67 Y our phone only supports a 12 hour time display , it is necessary to press either , or . These keys represent A.M. and P .M. respectively . Note: Once an alarm is set, an alarm clock icon displays on the screen in standby mode. When the alarm is turned off the alarm clock icon is removed.

71 Locking the phone The Security menu allows you to lock t he phone manually or automatically when powering on your ph one or to leave the phone unlocked. T o lock the phone: 1. Press for Security and enter your current lock code. 2. Press f or Lock Phone .

83 Vo i c e d i a l Y our phone features Voice Dial(ing). Using the V oice Dialing feature requires that you first program the phone to reco gnize the name of the person you are calling. Note: Y ou can store only one voice d ial entry per stored name.
