7. Sub LCD: Lets you monitor the phone’ s status and see who’ s calling without opening the phone. 8. Earpiece: Lets you hear the caller’ s v oice. 9. Main LCD (display): Displays the phone’ s main menu, features, modes, etc. 10. Softkey (left): Lets you select the menu corresponding to the bottom left line on the Main LCD .
T urning Y our Phone ON and OFF T urning Y our Phone ON T o turn y our phone on, press . Once your phone is ON, it displays “Looking for ser vice... ” which indicates that your phone is searching for a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automatically enter s standby mode.
Charging the Battery Y our phone comes with a rechargeable batter y . Y ou should charg e the batter y as soon as possible so you can begin using your phone.
3. Follow the system prompts. (The call will be made in speakerphone mode, unless you have a headset attached to the phone.) Redial to redial the last number you called. V oice Dial to use the V oice Dial function (see “Using V oice- Activated Dialing” on page 88).
The following options are also displa yed by pressing . T o select an option, highlight it and press . Answer to answ er the call. Answer:Speaker to answ er the call in speakerphone mode. Don’t Answer to hang up the incoming call and return to W eb while you are in the W eb operation.
Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not answer ed, your phone displays the Missed Call Notification. T o display the Missed Call entry: Press (left softkey).
End-of-Call Options T o display the f ollowing options, press within 10 seconds after disconnecting a call. T o select an option, highlight it and press . Call Again to dial the phone number . Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode.
Dialing From the Contacts Directory T o dial directly from a Contacts entry: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Contacts and press . 3. Highlight Find/Add Entry and press .
Entering Characters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input lets you enter text in your phone b y pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9 W ord mode when entering te xt, see “Selecting a Character Input Mode” abov e.) T9 T ext Input analyses the letters y ou enter using an intuitive word database and creates a suitable word.
Entering Numbers, Symbols, Canned Suffix and Smileys Entering NUMBER 1. In a text entr y field, press (right softke y). 2. Highlight NUMBER and press . 3. 3. Security Accessing the Security Menu Y ou must enter your lock code to view the Secur ity menu. 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Settings and press . 3. Highlight Security and press . 4. Enter your lock code. T ip: If you can’t recall your lock code, try using the last four digits of your phone number or 0000.
Restricting Calls Y ou can restrict phone numbers your phone dials or receives. (The Restrict Calls setting does not appl y to 911 or Customer Service.) 1. From the Secur ity Menu display (See “ Accessing the Security Menu” on page 45), highlight Others and press .
Erasing the Downloads 1. From the Secur ity Menu display (See “ Accessing the Security Menu” on pa ge 45), highlight EraseDownload and pr ess . 2. If you’ re sure you want to erase all data downloaded from the W eb, highlight Ye s and press . If you have assigned downloaded data, the function returns to its default setting.
Note: If you’re on a call when you leave the home network and enter an area where roaming is available (whether digital or analog), your call is dropped. If your call is dropped in an area where you think service is available, turn your phone off and on again to reconnect to the home network.

55 6. Managing Call History Viewing History Y ou’ll find the Call Histor y feature ver y helpful. It is a list of the last 20 phone numbers (or Contacts entries) for each calls that you placed, accepted, or missed. Call History makes redialing a number fast and easy .

Adding a Phone Number to a Contacts Entry 1. Display a Contacts entr y (see “Finding Contacts List Entr ies” on page 58). 2. Highlight a phone number , press (r ight softke y), highlight Edit , and press . 3. Highlight the label field you want to add and press .
T o cancel a stor ed speed dial number: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Contacts and press . 3. Highlight Speed Dial #s and pr ess . 4. Highlight the stored speed dial number you want to cancel and press . 5. Highlight Unassign and press .
T o select an image type for an entry: 1. Follow steps 1-3 on the previous page. 2. Highlight Image and press . 3. Select a menu by scrolling up or down and press . 4. Highlight your desired image type and press . Normal to set Image to the Incoming Calls setting (see page 31).
67 Secret Contacts Entries Y ou can hide an entr y’ s phone number(s) b y making them secret, which requires your lock code to edit the entr y . The entr y name is still displayed, but the entr y’ s phone numbers are replaced b y “(Secret)”. 1.

Deleting Items from the T o Do List 1. From T o Do List display , highlight the item y ou want to erase and press (right softkey). 2. Highlight your desired option and press . Erase Item erases an item from the T o Do List. Erase Selection erases the selected T o Do items at one time.

Confirming the Downloaded Data The downloaded data will be automatically classified as games, ringers, ima ges (screen savers) or an application folder . However , if any data has a dif ferent categor y , it is classified as a Dynamic folder . If data doesn’t belong to any of the above categories, it is classified in the Other s folder .
T o confirm the downloaded applications folder: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Downloads and press . 3. Highlight Applications and press . 4. Highlight the downloaded data you want to confirm and press . 5. Select Run from the options and press .
Icon Indication Sorting the downloaded data in memory size order The files downloaded via website are stored in alpha betical order . If you want to store the data in memor y size order , follo w these instructions: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2.
Erasing old downloaded data If you tr y to do wnload new data when the downloaded data’ s memor y is full, the war ning message appears. Y ou will be prompted to erase some old downloaded data. T o get new download data: 1. When the warning message appear s, press (left softke y) to make a space for new download data.
Reviewing V oice Dialing T ags 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight V oice Services and press . 3. Highlight V oice Dial and press . 4. Highlight Review or Rev:Speaker and press . 5. Highlight the desired entr y and press . – or – Highlight the desired entr y and press (right softke y).
Recording also stops when the other party hangs up the call. Memo recording during a phone call is disabled while you are roaming in analog service areas. When the recording capacity is full, highlight an old memo, press (left softke y), highlight Ye s , and press to make room for additional memos.
Setting Up Screen Call This featur e enables you to answer incoming calls b y using pre- recorded announcements, either one that is pre-recorded or one that you record. Y ou can also record the caller’ s message into the V oice Memo list. T o listen to the message, see “Re viewing V oice Memos ”on page 91.
Recording Customized Announcement 1. Follow steps 1 to 4 on the previous pa ge. 2. Highlight Custom and press (right softke y). 3. Highlight Record and press . If your announcement has already been recorded, select Ye s or No for overwriting. 4. Press to start the 1st recording.
Preparing Y our Phone for 10-4 Service The first time you use your 10-4 Phone, your phone guides y ou how to use the 10-4 function. 1. Press (left softke y) or the 10-4 button on the side of your phone ( ).
Making a 10-4 Call (1-to-1 Call) Y ou can place a 1-to-1 10-4 call by enter ing a 10-4 number or by selecting a contact from the 10-4 List. 1. Press (left softke y) or press to access the 10-4 List.
Making a 10-4 Call by Entering a Number 1. From standby mode, enter the 10-4 number you want to dial. 2. Press to place the 10-4 call. Continue holding to take the f loor and speak. The contact’ s name appear s if there is a matched number in your 10-4 List.
Redialing a 10-4 Call 1. From the 10-4 List, highlight Redial , and press and hold . Y ou will see 10-4 redialing... and Connecting... follow ed b y the te xt “ Y ou have floor . ” 2. Speak after the beep (keep pressing down while you are speaking).
Copying an Entry to Personal List or Personal Group List Y ou can cop y an entr y to your Personal List/Personal GRP . from several different sources. If the selected entry is already stored in the Personal List/Personal GRP ., the “copy” option does not appear .
Saving a 10-4 Number Y ou can save a 10-4 number from the ending display to your Personal List/Personal GRP . 1. From the ending display , press (r ight softkey). 2. Enter a name and pr ess . 3. Press (left softke y). 4. Press (left softkey). T ip: If the entry already has a name, skip step 2 and 3 above.
Adding a New Group to Y our Personal Group List Y ou can add new groups to the Personal Group List. Each group can include up to five members. Y ou can enter a group member directly , or select the member from the Company List or Personal List. 1. Press (left softke y) or press to access the 10-4 List.
3. Highlight Edit and press . 4. Edit the group name and press or (left softkey). If you don’t need to edit the group name, press (left softkey) during step 4 above and skip step 5. 5. Press (left softke y) to save your changes. 6. T o edit a group member , highlight the contact y ou want to edit and press (right softkey).
Erasing a 10-4 List Y ou can erase all entr ies saved in the 10-4 List (except Company List/Company GRP .). T o erase a 1 0-4 List: 1. From the 10-4 List, press (right softkey). 2. Highlight Erase 10-4 List and press . 3. Highlight your desired option and press .
Setting 10-4 Guard This featur e enables you to display the warning messa ge when you cannot receive 10-4 calls. The warning message appear when you are launching the W eb. 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Settings and press . 3. Highlight 10-4 and press .
Displaying Messages T o display a Messag e from the messag e notification aler t, see “New Messa ges” on the previous pa ge. T o display a Messag e from the main menu: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Messaging and press . 3. Highlight T ext Msg and pr ess .

Sending a Message in the Outbox Folder If a failure occur s when you tr y to send a message, the message goes to the Outbox folder . 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Messaging and press . 3. Highlight T ext Msg and pr ess . 4. Highlight Outbox and press .
Messages Details Options After you display the Message list in Inbox, Sent, or your defined folder , press to display the messa ge details. Press (right softke y) to display message options. T o select an option, highlight it and press . Call(Go to List) to call a number in the message.

Responding to Call Waiting When you’ re on a call, Call W aiting aler ts you to incoming calls by sounding beeps. Y our phone’ s screen informs you that another call is coming in and displays the caller’ s phone number (if it is available and you are in dig ital mode).
Browsing the W eb Creating a Bookmark Bookmarks allow you to store the address of your fav orite W ebsites f or easy access at a later time. T o creat e a bookmar k: 1. Launch the W eb pa ge you want to mark. 2. Press (right softkey) to go to the Browser menu.
Restarting the W eb Browser If the W eb browser appear s to be malfunctioning or stops responding, you can usually fix the problem b y simply restarting the browser . T o restar t the W eb browser: 1. From an active Internet connection, press (right softkey) to display the browser menu.
Ringers Downloading Ringers T o download an a v ailable ring er to your phone: 1. Press to access the main menu. 2. Highlight Downloads and press . 3. Highlight Ringers and press . 4. Highlight Get New and press . The browser will launch and take you to the Ringers download menu.

T urning Off Y our Phone in Dangerous Areas T o avoid interfering with blasting operations, tur n your phone off when in a blasting area or in other areas with signs indicating two-wa y radios should be tur ned of f. Constr uction crews often use remote-control RF devices to set off explosives.
