14 R Section 4 ST ARTING THE ENGINE 4.4 CA UTION DO NO T USE ST ARTING FLUIDS. Use of star ting fluids in the air intake system may be potentiall y explosive or cause a “runaway” engine condition that could result in engine damage and/or personal injury .
15 R Section 4 REVERSE TRA VEL CA UTION Disengage power to the mower before backing up. Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary and then only after observ ation of the entire area behind the mower . CA UTION Before backing up, observe the rear for persons and obstructions.
16 R Section 4 HILLSIDE OPERA TION 4.7 W ARNING DO NO T operate on steep slopes. T o check a slope , attempt to back up it (with the cutter deck down). If the machine can bac k up the slope without the wheels slipping, reduce speed and use extreme caution.

23 R Section 6 P ARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT 6.1 W ARNING Do not operate the mower if the parking brake is not operable . P ossib le severe injur y could result. The parking brak e linkage should be adjusted whene v er the parking brak e lev er is placed in the “ENGA GE” position and the parking brak e will allo w the mow er to mov e.
24 R Section 6 TRA VEL ADJUSTMENTS 6.2 Neutral or trac king adjustments will need to be made if: A . The steering control lev ers are in the neutral position and the machine creeps f orward or bac kward.

If you experience frequent belt wear or breakage, see your authorized Scag ser vice center for belt adjustment. CUTTER DECK ADJUSTMENTS 6.6 Cutter dec k le vel, pitch and height are set at the f actor y .
27 R Section 6 - NO TE - T o prev ent the cutter deck from teetering, all f our (4) cutter deck hanging chains m ust ha ve tension on them. If all four chains do not have tension on them and the dec k teeters, you must readjust the cutter deck as outlined in the procedures abo ve .
28 R Section 6 CUST OM-CUT B AFFLE ADJUSTMENT The Custom-Cut Baffle is designed to deliver optimum airflow and superior cutting perf or mance in any type of grass . The Custom-Cut Baffle can be raised or low ered to precisely tailor the deck's performance for the type of grass being cut.
29 R Section 6 ELECTRIC CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT 6.7 The electric clutch ser ves tw o functions in the operation of the mo wer . In addition to star ting and stopping the po wer flow to the cutter blades, the clutch also acts as a brak e to assist in stopping b lade rotation when the PT O is switched off or the operator presence circuit is interrupted.

35 R Section 7 W ARNING DO NO T overfill. Follo w appro ved pr ocedures for filling. This cylinder is designed to contain LP Gas; a flammable liquid and gas under pressure. DO NOT expose to fire or heat above 120 degrees Farenheit. Be sure all fittings are tight and leak proof .
