14 R Section 4 T o disengage the deck drive, push the s witch in to 3. the disengage position. Alwa ys operate the engine at full throttle to properly 4. maintain cutting speed. If the engine starts to lug down, reduce the f orward speed and allo w the engine to operate at maximum RPM.

19 R Section 6 P ARkING BRAkE ADJUSTMENT 6.1 W ARNING DO NO T operate the mower if the parking brake is not operable. P ossible severe injury could result. The par king brak e linkage should be adjusted whenev er the parking brak e lev er is placed in the “ENGA GE” position and the parking brak e will allow the mower to move .
20 R Section 6 NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT -NO TE- Neutral has been set by your Scag dealer at the time of set up and nor mally does not need to be adjusted. If , howe ver , you find that the neutral has come out of adjustment, f ollo w the procedure below . Be sure the dump valv es are in the run position and 1.
21 R Section 6 -NO TE- Bef ore proceeding with this adjustment, be sure that the caster wheels turn freely and that the tire pressure in the dr iv e wheels is correct. If the tire pressure is not correct, the machine will pull to the side with the low er pressure.
22 R Section 6 CUTTER DECk LEvEL The cutter deck should be le vel from side-to-side f or proper cutting performance. T o check for le vel, be sure that the mow er is on a flat, lev el surf ace, the tires are properly inflated and the cutter deck is set at the most common cutting height that y ou will use.

24 R Section 6 Rotate the cutter blade on the right side of the cutter 6. deck. P osition the cutter blade so it is f acing "front to back" on the machine . Check the measurement from the floor to the cutter 7. blade tip at the front and rear of the right side blade .

32 R Section 7 B. CHANGING HYDRA ULIC OIL The h ydraulic oil should be changed after ev ery 500 hours or annually , whiche ver occurs first. The oil should also be changed if the color of the fluid has become b lack or milky .
33 R Section 7 B. CHANGING ENGINE CRANkCASE OIL After the first 20 hours of operation, change the engine crankcase oil and replace the oil filter . Thereafter , change the engine crankcase oil after e very 100 hours of operation or monthly , whiche ver occurs first.
34 R Section 7 ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM 7.5 D ANGER T o avoid injury from burns, allow the mower to cool before removing the fuel tank cap and refueling. A. FILLING THE FUEL T ANk Fill the fuel tank at the beginning of each operating da y to wit hin one (1) inch belo w the botto m of the fill er nec k.

Snap open the two clips securing the air cleaner 1. cov er to the air cleaner bo x. Remov e the air cleaner cov er , clean the duc k bill vent of an y dust or debr is and set the cov er aside.
36 R Section 7 Chargin g rates betwe en 3 and 50 am peres are satisf actory if excessiv e gassing or spewing of electrolyte does not occur or the batter y does not f eel excessiv ely hot (over 125°F). If spewing or gassing occurs or the temperature e xceeds 125°F , the charging rate must be reduced or temporarily stopped to per mit cooling.
