Remov e knob (A) and bolt (B) from each side of upp er handle. 2. Move handle to desired height. 3. Install bolt thr ough matching holes in upper and l ower handles on each side .

Operat ing - 8 OPERATING Forward T ravel T o T ravel Forward: Pull and hold traction clu tch lev er (A) against uppe r handle. T o Stop Forwar d T ravel: NO TE: Rear wheels will make a cl icking noise when mower is pushed f orward. This ind icates that the drive train is operating correctly .
Operat ing - 9 OPERATING Using Side Discharge Chute 1. Release b lade control le v er to stop engine . 2. Remove m ulch gua rd knob (A). 3. Lift and hold s pring l oaded mulch guard (B) up. 4. Install side d ischarge chute (C). • Slide side discharge chute unde r mulch guard mounting bracket.
Operating - 10 OPERATING When you mow an area f or the first time, trav el SLO W and cut HIGH so you can: • Learn the terrain. • Learn the best mowing pattern. • Help pre v ent hitting object s hidden in the gr ass. T r y to mow grass o nly when it is dry: Wet g rass ma y plug mow er and leav e a trail of grass clumps.

Ser vice - 16 SERVIC E 7. T ur n mower onto its LEFT SIDE. 8. Allow engine oil to drain f rom the dipstick filler tube location into the drain pan. 9. After oil has dr ained, return mow er to an upright position. 10.Remov e plastic drain tube . Clean area around filler tube.

Ser vice - 18 SERVIC E Cleaning Drive Belt and T ransmission Area 1. Remo ve hardw are (A) and belt shield (B). 2. Remov e control cables (C) from belt shield notch (D). 3. Remo ve cl ippings from belt area and top of the transmission. 4. Slide control cable into belt shield notch.

Ser vice - 20 SERVIC E T ransmission Cable Adjustment — SP6213 1. Stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire. 2. Remo ve hardw are (A) and belt shield (B). NO TE: T ransmission c able adjustment can be perf ormed without removing belt and pulle y . The belt and pulley have been rem oved f or clarity o f pictures .
Ser vice - 21 SERVIC E 8. T o adjust spring exte nsion, use an 8 mm wrench, loosen (do not remo ve ) the cable mou nt brac ket capscr ews (J). NO TE: For transmission c lutch to operat e properl y , there m ust be a certain amount of spring pres sure engaging the cones or the trans mission will slip and NO T drive the wheel s.
Ser vice - 22 SERVIC E raised positi on. 2. Remo ve pla stic hubcaps (A). • Use a scre wdriver in slot (B) t o pr y the hubcap from each wheel. 3. Remove loc knut (C) and washer (D). 4. Remove wheel from each axle. 5. Apply a light coating of g rease to each axle (E).
