1 Thank you for purchasing Virtua T ennis™ 3 . Please note that this softwar e is designed for use with the PLA YST A TION ® 3 computer entertainment system. Be sure to read this softwar e manual thoroughly before you start playing. CONTENTS Getting Started .
3 2 Starting a game: Before use, carefully r ead the instructions supplied with the PLA YST A TION ® 3 computer entertainment system. The documentation contains information on setting up and using your system as well as important safety information. Check that the MAIN POWER switch (located on the system rear) is turned on.
5 4 CONTROLS The following controls ar e used in this game. Please note that all explanations assume A T ype configuration. Configuration can be changed via Options (p.10) and the Pause Menu (p.19). VIEWING THE GAME SCREEN Press the SELECT button to switch between Court Cam (default) and Player Cam.
7 6 2 Press the Shot Button Press the shot button to start your swing. The length of time between starting your swing and hitting the ball will determine the shot's power . Additionally , the shot type will vary depending on the shot button used (see Shot T ypes).
9 8 Press the ST ART button at the Title Screen to bring up the Main Menu, and use the left stick CV and the g S button to select from the following modes: ■ W orld T our Cr eate and develop your own player character and enter competitions all around the world for the number one world ranking (p.
11 10 Create your own player character , develop them through training and coaching, and enter competitions held all around the globe to rise thr ough the ranks for the number one spot.
13 12 HOME Come here to r est your player , change gear and manage your W orld T our Player Data. The complete player status and parameters are displayed on the right side of the screen for your r eference.
15 14 GAME EVENTS As the W orld T our progresses, a variety of dif ferent game events will take place. T ennis Academy The practical coaching you receive her e will improve your overall game. Clear each challenge to increase your parameters and pr ogress to a higher level of training.
17 16 A T ournament mode for 1 to 2 players. A Singles tour nament comprises five matches and a Doubles tournament comprises three. SELECTING A MA TCH SYSTEM Select T ournament from the Main Menu and choose a Singles or Doubles competition. Doubles matches in T ournament mode are for two players playing co-operatively .
