Assembling 10 Inser t the SIM or USIM card. 3 Place the SIM or USIM card into the devic e with • the gold-coloured contacts facing down. If you do not insert a SIM or USIM card, you can • only use your device ’ s non-network services and some menus.
Assembling 11 Charge the batt er y Before using the device f or the rst time, you must charge the battery. Y ou can charge the device with the pro vided travel adapter or by connecting the device to a PC with a PC data cable. Use only Samsung-approved char gers and cables.
Assembling 12 Plug the large end of the trav el adapter into a power 3 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charging , but it • may take longer to fully charge the battery . Assembling 13 Inser t a memor y card (optional) T o store additional multimedia les, you must insert a memory card. Y our device accepts microSD™ or microSDHC™ memory cards with maximum capacities of 32 GB (depending on memory card manufacturer and type).
Assembling 14 Push the memory card in the memory card slot until it 3 locks in place. Replace the back cover . 4 Remove the memory card › Before remo ving a memory card, rst unmount it for safe removal. In Idle mode, select 1 Applications → Settings → SD card and phone storage → Unmount SD card .
Assembling 15 Before formatting the memory card, r emember to make backup copies of all important data stored on your device. The manufacturer’ s warranty does not cover loss of data r esulting user actions. Attach a hand str ap (optional) Remove the back cov er .

Communication 34 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options available during a call or customising and using call-related f eatures. Make and answer a call › Y ou can use the buttons or the touch screen when you make, accept, end or r eject calls.
Communication 35 Use the headset › By plugging the supplied headset into the device, y ou can make and answer calls: T o answer a call, press the headset button. • T o reject a call, press and hold the headset button. • T o place a call on hold or retrieve a held call during a call, • press and hold the headset button.

Listen to v oice mail messages › If you have set missed calls to be div erted to the voice mail server , callers may leave v oice messages when you do not answer incoming calls.

Entertainment 54 Setting Function Review Set the camera to display the taken image. GPS Set the camera to include location information for y our photos. T o improve GPS signals , avoid shooting in locations where the signal may be obstructed, such as between buildings or in low- lying areas, or in poor wea ther conditions.

Alternative frequency Set whether or not the FM radio attempts to retune a radio sta tion when the signal is weak.

Auto reject • : Enable or disable the auto reject feature and specify a list of callers to automatically reject.
Settings 103 Video call forwarding • : Divert incoming calls to another number . Video call barring • : Block calls from specied numbers. Fix ed Dialing Numbers › Enable FDN • : Activate or deactivate FDN mode to restrict calls to numbers in the FDN list.
Settings 104 Notication ringtone • : Select a ringtone to aler t you to events, such as incoming messages , missed calls, and alarms. Audible touch tones • : Set the device to sound when you touch the keys on the dialling screen.
Settings 105 Set unlock pattern • : Set an unlock pattern to unlock the device. Require pattern • : S et the d evic e t o re quir e t he un lock pattern you hav e set each time you turn it on. By doing this, you can prev ent unauthorised people from unlocking the device.
Settings 106 Install encrypted certicates • : Install encr ypted certicates that are stored on a memory card. Set password • : Create and conrm a passw ord for accessing credentials . Clear storage • : Erase the credential cont ents from the device and reset the passwor d.
Settings 107 Background data • : Select this setting to use the auto sync feature . The auto sync will run in the background without opening applications and synchronise data. Auto-sync • : Set the device to synchronise contact, calendar , and email data automatically.
Settings 108 Locale and te xt Change the settings for text input. › Select locale Select a display language for all menus and applications. Swype › Language • : Selec t a language for text input. Y ou cannot enter text in some languages. T o enter text, you should change the writing language to one of the supported languages.
