1 CHAPTER 1 Product Overview Features and Benefit s The Avocent AutoView ® Wireless Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) switch provides connectivity from monitors, keyboards, mice and audio d evices to computers without cables. The 802.11 a-based design is a hardware-on ly solution requiring no new operating system, drivers or application software.
2 AutoVi ew Wi reless Installe r/Us er Guide Comp atibility with peripherals The AutoView Wireless switch is compat ible wit h the following peripherals: • Keyboard- The transmitter and receiver support virtuall y any standard PS/2 keyboard. • Mouse- The transmitter and receiver support 2- button PS/2 mice.
3 CHAPTER 2 Installation Getting S t arted Before installation, refer to the list below to ensure t hat you have all the items that shipped with the AutoView Wireless switch.

7 CHAPTER 3 Basic Operations Powering the AutoV iew Wireless Switch T o p ower the AutoView Wireless switch: 1. Complete all of the installation steps in Chapter 2. 2. Power up the AutoV iew W ireless transmitters and wait for the LED mark S2 to illuminate.
8 AutoVi ew Wi reless Installe r/Us er Guide The AutoView W ireless On-Screen Display Once the system is powered, users are prompted for their lo gin name and password if logi n security is active. Otherwise, the AutoView Wireless On -Screen Display (OSD) w ill appear.

Cooperative Share (CS) If two or more users need to access the same co mputer, they can share access to it through the AutoView Wireless switch.

Chapter 3: Basic Operations 11 Scanning your system In Scan mode, the switch automatically scans from port to port (compu ter to computer). You can scan up to 16 computers, spec ifying which computers to scan an d the number of seconds that each computer will display.
12 AutoView Wireless Installer/User Guide When optimizing video, best results can be obtai ned by displaying a fixed image on screen during the optimization process. T o optimize video automatically: 1. Activate the OSD. 2. Cli ck Auto Setup . This will automat ically optimize your v ideo setup parameters.

Two modes are available: Comp uter and DVD. Co mputer mode uses minimal video bandwidth and is useful for KVM installations.

15 CHAPTER 4 Login Security Most advanced commands are accessed from the Security menu. T o access the Security menu: 1. Activate the OSD and click the Setup button to display th e Setup me nu . 2. Click the button marked Security . NOTE: AES security is always enabled.
16 AutoView Wireless Installer/User Guide NOTE: The default Admin password is blank. When you are prompted for a password, press Enter . User Maintenance The AutoView Wireless switching system can support up to eight user logins including th e Admin user.
Chapter 4: Login Security 17 4. Click ConfirmDel to delete the selected user, or CancelDel to exit. Computer Maintenance Each transmitter will have a default nam e based on its MAC ID. Using the OSD, users may rename attached computers with names th at are meaningful to them.
