USER MANUAL AXIS M3014 Network Camera.
About this document This manual is intended for admini strators and users of the AXIS M3014 Network Camera, and is applicable to fi rmware 5.40 and later. It includes instru ctions fo r using and managing the product on your network. Previous experience of networking will be of use when using this product.

Caution Due to local regulations or the environmental and ele ctrical conditions in which the product is to be used, a shielde d network cable (STP) may be appropriate or required.

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a A ccessin g the pr oduct Access from the Internet Once connected, the Axis product is accessible on your local net work (LAN). To access the product from the Internet you must con fi gure your network router to allow incoming data traf fi c to the product.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a A ccessin g the pr oduct Set Power Line Frequency Power line frequency is set the fi rs t time the Axis product is accessed a n d can only be changed fro m Plain Con fi g or by resetting the product to factory default. Select the power line frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz) used at the locat ion of the Axis product.

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Media str eams Media streams The Axis product provides severa l video stream forma ts. Your re quirements and the properties of y our netw ork will determine the type you use. The Live View page in the product provides access to H.

Please see the AXIS Media Control User’s Manual for more information. The AMC Control Pane l is automatically installed on fi rst use, after which it can be con fi gured.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Media str eams Note • <ip>= IP addess • The Axis product supports QuickTim e 6.5.1 and later. • QuickTime adds latency to the video stream. • It may be possible to use other players to view the H.264 stream using the paths a bove, although A xis does not guarantee this.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Settin g up the pr oduct Setting up the product The Axis product can be con fi gured by users with administrator or opera tor rights. Click Setup in the top right-hand corner of t h eL i v eV i e wp a g e . • Administrators have unrestricted a ccess to all settings.

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Video • The Li ve View page in Inter net Explorer in Windo ws. Right-click in the imag e and select Pixel counter .U s e t h e m o u s e to move and resiz e the rectangle. Image You can modify the image resolution and com pression, and rotate the image from the Image tab ( Video > Video Stream ).
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Video Camera Settings The Video > Camera Settings page provides access to ad vanced image settings for the Axis product. Image Appearance Increasing the Color level increases the color saturation. The value 100 gives maximum color saturation.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Video 5. Click Save to save the settings. To modify the view area, mo dify the settings as required. Click Save . Tip: • The PTZ f unctionality is useful during installatio n of the Axis product. Use a view area to crop out a speci fi cp a r to f the full view.

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a PTZ (P an Tilt Zoom) PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) The PTZ menu is available if digita l PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) is enabled in t he selected view area.

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Detector s Detectors Camera Tampering Camera Tampering can gene rate an alarm wheneve r the camera is repositioned, or when the lens is covered, sprayed or severely defocused. To send an alarm, for example an email, an action rule must be set up.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Detector s Set up motion detection To set up a motion dete ction Include Window, follow these instructions : 1. Go to Detectors > Motion Detection . 2. Select the Con fi gure Included Windows option and click New . Select the new w indow in the list of windows and enter ad e s c r i p t i v en a m e .
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Detector s Low level (0%) Even very small objects trigger motion detection. An object that appears in the window triggers motion detection only for a very short time before it is co nsidered as non-moving. Only very bright objects on a dark background trigger motion detection.

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a Ev e n ts Events The Axis product can be con fi gured to perform actions whe n different events occur, for example, star t a recording when m otion is detected. The set of conditions that de fi nes how and when the action is triggered is called an Action Rule .

AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options System Options Security Users User access control is enabled by default and can be con fi gured under System Options > Security > Users . An administrator can set up other users by givi ng them user names and passw ords.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options IEEE 802.1X IEEE 802.1X is a standard for port-based Network Admission Control p roviding secure authentication of wired and wireless network devices. IEEE 802.1X is based on EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol).
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options If using a host name for the NTP server, a DNS server must be con fi gured. See DNS Con fi guration, on page 35 . • Set manually allows you to manually set date a nd time. If using an NTP server, select your Time zone from the drop-down list.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options Always - The Axis product will constantly attempt to connect to the AVH S service ov er the Internet. Once registered the product will stay connected to the service. This option can b e used when the p roduct is already installed and it is not convenient to use the one-click installation.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options HTTP The HTTP port used by the Axis product can be changed under System Options > Network > TCP/IP > Advanced . I n addition to the default setting, which is 80, any port in the range 1024–65535 can be used.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options Note H.264 video streams will not be a vailable if the RTSP se rver is disabled. SOCKS SOCKS is a networking proxy p rotocol. The Axis product can be con fi gured to use a SOCKS server to reach networks on the other side of a fi rewall or proxy server.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options To use SNMP v3, HTTPS must be enabled, see HTTPS, on page 32 . To enable SNM P v3, check the box and provide the initial user password.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options Maintenance The Axis product provid es several maintena nce functions. These are available under System Options > Maintenance . Click Restart to perform a correct restart if the Axis prod uct is not beha ving as expected.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a System Options Parameter List - Shows the product's parameters and their current setti ngs. This may prove useful when troubleshooting or when contacting Axis Support. Connection List - Lists all clients tha t are currently a ccessing med ia streams.
AXIS M3 0 14 Netw ork Camer a T r oubleshooting Troubleshooting Checking the fi rmware Firmware is softwar e that determines the f unctionality of ne twork devices. One of y our fi rst actions when troubleshooting a problem should be to check the curr ent fi rmware version.
