6 DEA LER CHECKLIST for SNA PPER 20” STEEL DECK WA LK BEHIND M OWERS The follow ing must be achieved upon the purchase of the mow er. It is very important that the Dealer perfo rms and accomplishes the set- up and the op erational tests as listed b elow.

Its purpose, aside f rom recom mending operating and routine servic e requirements , is to prom ote safety through the use of accepted operating practic es.
9 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.1 PRE-STA RT CHECK LIST Make the following c hecks and per form the service required bef ore each start-up. 2.1.1. Check guards, def lectors, gras s bag, adapter and covers to mak e sure all are in place and securely tightened.
10 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.2 STA RTING & OPERA TION 2.2.2. ENGINE & BL AD E (120 Volt Elect ric Start) WA RNING The 120 v olt electric start models are supplied with a 10 foot t hree-wire p ower cord. T he plug is designed to operate on 120 volt AC household current.

For the cor rect part or inf ormation f or a particular mower, always mention m odel and serial num ber.

15 Section 4 - A DJUSTMENTS & REPA IR WA RNING Before attemp ting any adjustments o r repairs, STOP the en gine, remov e the spark plug w ire from the spark plu g and secure wire aw ay from plug. Be extremely careful w hen pe rforming adjustments around engine.

19 PRIMARY MA INTENANCE A n illustration o f how dirt can damage y our engine & how reason able maintenance can protect it! Snapper uses the best available engines and components in their products in order to provide long, satisfactory service. Ho wever, proper care is essential in prolonging engine life.
20 PRIMARY MA INTENA NCE The engine must gulp about 12,000 gallons of air for every gallon of fuel used. Because of its working environment, the air available to y our Snapper engine is heavily saturated with airborne dirt particles. As the dirt particles are stopped, they build up and begin to clog the outside of the air filter.
21 PRIMARY MA INTENA NCE Generally , wash foam-type filters in a dishw ashing detergent and water solution. Rinse and wring dry , then saturate with oil and squeeze out excess. Failure to re-oil this type filter will ruin the engine. Clean paper elements by tapping lightly .
22 PRIMARY MA INTENA NCE On 4-cy cle engines with an oil level plug, don’t be fooled onto thinking the engine has sufficient lubricating oil if y ou can see “some” oil in the opening – the level should alway s be brought up to the point of overflowing at the top of the fill hole.
