Introduction 2 The B&K AV7.1 remote control is preprogram med to operate over 1,000 Audio and Video components so that you can set it up by simply punching in a three- digit code number that m atches your equipment.
Using Your Remote 3 This remote control uses four (4) AAA 1.5V batteries. Please be sure to m atch the batteries with the (+) and (-) markings inside the battery compartm ent during the installation.

Using Your Remote 8 B. Preprogrammed Set-Up The AV7.1 universal re m ote control can operate up to eight separate audio and video devices or equip m ent. To progra m the re m ote control for y our devices, please use the following steps. Three Digit Code Method 1.
Using Your Remote 9 Note: SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD.
Using Your Remote 10 Auto Search Method Please use this method if none of the Set-Up Code numbers worked for your device during the standard set-up procedure or if the manufacturer or brand for your device was no listed in the Set-Up Code Tables.

Using Your Remote 12 C. Learning Set-Up The AV7.1 has the ability to learn new functions from your original remote controls: • There are 8 pages of learning with each page corresponding to the 8 Device modes on the remote control: B&K, CD, DVD, TAPE, SAT, TV, V1, or V2.
Using Your Remote 13 3. Press and hold both the Device Button selected in Step 1 and the SEL / PLAY button for approximately three seconds, until the LCD on the AV7.
Using Your Remote 14 Once you have stored the learned functions, test the buttons that have been taught. If any of the buttons do not operate as they should, please repeat from Step 1 for those buttons. Note: If the LCD shows FAIL at any time during the learning process, the AV7.
Using Your Remote 15 4. Press and hold the button on the original rem ote control that you wish to teach into the AV7.1, for approximately three seconds. The LCD on the AV7.1 will show - - - - - indicating that it is receiving information from the original remote control.
Using Your Remote 16 Erasing All Functions in One Device Mode 1. Press the Device button for the m ode to be erased. 2. Press and hold the Device and SEL / PLAY buttons sim ultaneously, for approximately three seconds, until the LCD shows LEARN .
Using Your Remote 17 D. Operation After you have programmed the rem ote control for your equipment, use the following procedures to operate your home entertainment system : 1. Press the Device Button that you wish to operate: i.e. to operate a TV, press the TV device button : to operate a VCR, press the V1 Device Button , etc.
Using Your Remote 18 Main Device Mode When the main Device Mode is displayed in the LCD, the AV7.1 will operate in a standard operating mode and all the buttons will operate the preprogram med, learned and punch through features for that Device Mode. Automatic Audio Mode The AV7.
Using Your Remote 19 Device Buttons Volume Buttons Surround Controls Macro Buttons Light Button Backlighting All the buttons and the LCD on the AV7.1 are backlit for eight seconds when the LIGHT button is pressed. The backlight is extended an additional eight seconds with any button press while the backlight is on.
Advanced Features 20 After you set-up the remote control to operate your equipment, you can also program advanced features on the remote control. The advanced features are designed to enhance the use of the remote control with your home entertainment system.
Advanced Features 21 Channel Control “Punch Through” You can program so that either the SAT or V2 Channel Controls (CHANNEL UP and DOWN) will also operate in other modes on the rem ote control. Example: Change CHANNEL UP and DOWN on your satellite while the remote is in the TV mode.
Advanced Features 22 Transport Control “Punch Through” You can set-up your remote control so that V1 or CD Transport Controls ( PLAY , STOP , FAST FORWARD , REWIND , PAUSE , and RECORD ) will also operate in other modes on the rem ote. Example: Control V1 functions while operating the remote control in the TV mode.
Advanced Features 23 Macro Buttons The buttons labeled M1, M2, M3, M4, and POW ER can be used as macro buttons . Each of these macro buttons can send out up to 15 co mm ands with the press of one button. Macro buttons can be used to turn on and off m ultiple co m ponents with one button or to directly access favorite channels.
Advanced Features 24 • “Relocating” Functions Macro Buttons can be program med to store functions from one mode and transfer them into other m odes. Example: In the B& K mode, M acro Buttons can store various functions from the TV, V1, and Satellite modes.
Advanced Features 25 Example – Memory Button Programming To program Macro Button M2 in the B&K m ode to send the following comm ands: turn on the Audio Receiver, turn on the TV, turn on a VCR, and turn on a Satellite Receiver. 1. Press the B&K Device and the MUTE button, sim ultaneously.
Advanced Features 26 C. Changing the LCD Display Twenty-five different LCD display s can be selected for each Device Mode of the remote control. To select an alternate LCD display, please use the following procedure: 1. Press and hold the Device Button for which you would like to change the LCD setting.
Advanced Features 27 D. Programming a Second TV, VCR, etc. to Other Device Buttons. This feature is used to program the rem ote control for two or more TVs, VCRs, etc. or to program a device into a mode with a different Device Button name. You can store the three-digit Set-Up Code number for any device into any other unused Device Button.
