Pla ce all parts from the box in a cle ared area a nd position the m on the floor in front of you. Remove all pa cking materials from your are a and pla ce the m ba ck into the box. Do not dispose of the pa cking materials until a ssembly is completed.
ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 7 STEP 3 Connect the LEFT a nd RIGHT PEDAL ARMS(9, 10) to the PEDAL ARM CONNECTORS(12) with BUTT ON HEAD BOL TS(M10x1.25x55mm)(78), W ASHERS(M10)(91), a nd NYLOCK NUTS(M10x1.25)(86). STEP 4 Connect the LIN KAGES(1 1) to the LEFT a nd RIGHT PIVOTING ARMS(7, 8) with BUTTON HEAD BOL TS (M8x1.
ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 8 STEP 6 Atta ch the ST A TIONAR Y HANDLEBAR(4) onto the UPRIGHT(3) with FLA T HEAD BOL TS(M6x1x30mm) (79). Run the PULSE SENSOR WIRES(37) through the hole on the left side of the UPRIGHT(3) a nd pull out from the slot on the top of the UPRIGHT(3).
ASSEMBL Y INSTRUCTIONS 9 STEP 8 There is a "L" decal on the LEFT HANDLEBAR(5), a nd a "R" de cal on the RIGHT HANDLEBAR(6). Slide the HANDLEBAR SLEEVE(94) onto the LEFT HANDLEBAR(5). Insert the LEFT HANDLEBAR(5) into th e LEFT PIVOTING ARM(7) a nd secure with SOCKET HEAD BOL TS(M6x1x35mm)(72) and NYLOCK NUTS(M6x1)(83).
SET UP INSTRUCTIONS 10 FUNCTION INSPECTION: Visually in spect the 55-1779 ELLIPTICAL to verify that a ssembly is a s shown in the above illustration. Check the function of the 55-1779 ELLIPTICAL. Sta nd on the f oot pedals a nd pla ce your ha nds at a comforta ble position on the ha ndlebars.
OPERA TIONAL INSTRUCTIONS 11 T o start using the 55-1779 ELLIPTICAL, stand on the f oot pedals, gra sp the handlebars, move your highe st f oot f orward a nd f ollow the natural path of the ma chine. CAUTION: Do not use handlebars f or upper body strength training.
COMPUTER INSTRUCTIONS 12 BUTTONS: Pre ss to select the function value displays of RPM, DIST , a nd WA T T , or SPEED, ODOMETER, a nd CALORIES. Press a nd hold the button down f or two seconds to re set all of the function values to zero. Personal inf ormation including age, gender , he ight, a nd weight will be kept.

COMPUTER INSTRUCTIONS 16 NOTE: Select the progra m that you desire a nd set the function values to adjust your workout. The dif ferent categories of progra ms operate in different ways but, the computer will guide you step by ste p to setup the progra m ea sily .

22 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES How you begin your exercise progra m depends on your physical condition. If you have been ina ctive for several years or are severely overwe ight, start slowly a nd increa se your workout time gra dually . Increa se your workout intensity gra dually , too, by monitoring your heart rate while you exercise.
23 W ARM-UP a nd COOL-DOW N W arm-up The purpose of warming up is to pre pare your body for exercise a nd to minimize in juries. Warm up for two to f ive minutes bef ore strength-training or a erobic exercising. Perform a ctivities that raise your heart rate a nd warm the working muscles.
