1 Chapter 1 Introducing the SRC-1600 Congratulations on purc hasing the SRC-1600 Touch Screen Remote Control. The SR C-1600 is a digital uni versal remote con trol that is easy to use and enables you t o control all your elect ronic devices equipped with an infrared ( IR) remote.

4 Chapter 2 Quick start This chapter provides you with the information to quickly st art using t he SRC-1 600. Installing batteries The SRC-1600 requires four AAA al kaline batteries (not included). You must insert the batte ries before you can opera te the SRC-160 0.
Installing batteries 5 Battery Indicator A battery icon is displayed in t he upper left-hand corner above the Mute bu tton. When the ba tteries are almo st discharged, the battery low icon appears. Battery Tips and Precautions • Pay attention to the batteri es when the battery half full icon appears and replac e batteries if needed.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 6 About the controls The number of soft butto ns on the touch s creen changes according to the s elected de vice. The touch screen soft buttons allow you to opera te the SRC-1600 and your external devices. Use these keys to program codes from your existing remotes, control your devices, and set up macros.
About the controls 7 Selecting devices and pages You can program the hard buttons as well as two pages of soft buttons ( on the touch screen) for up to six devices. To change between devices, press the appropria te device button. To switch between pages, press the device button again.

Switch on the device for which you want to set up t he SRC-1600. 2. Select the appropria te device on the SRC- 1600 using the de vice buttons.
About the controls 9 NOTES: • You can stop the auto search at a ny time by pressing any button . • The codes for your device may not be incl uded in the preprogrammed li st. If the device does not switch off i n six minutes, you may no t be able to use preset codes.
10 Chapter 3 Setting up the SRC-1600 Before you can u se the SRC-16 00, you must se t it up either by using pr eset codes or learning codes from your existing IR remote controls. Entering setup To enter setup, press and hold the button for two seconds.

Press and hold for two seconds the device button of the device yo u want to customize. Yo u will see the devic e icon flashing on the touch screen.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 12 Using preset codes Thi s is the f as tes t wa y to pro gr am th e S RC- 160 0 but re quires that your device be located in the Pre-programmed Code List that was bundled with the SRC- 1600. The SR C-1600 comes pre- programmed with a list of preset codes.
Using p reset codes 13 Manually setting preset codes 1. Find your device i n the suppli ed list of prese t codes. 2. Press and hold to enter setup. 3. Press . 4. Find the digit code number from the pre-programmed code list. 5. Use the num ber buttons to enter the four d igit code.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 14 Checking the code number After automat ically setting a preset code, you can find the code’s number using the foll owing procedure. This i s useful if your se ttings are accidentally eras ed in the futur e. 1. Press and hold the appropriate device button.
Learning codes 15 Learning codes If your device is not in the list of preset codes, you can use your existing IR remote control to “teach” the SRC-16 00. You can program all buttons except for and the DEVICE keys. NOTE: Not all codes can be learned.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 16 6. Aim the IR transmitter of your device’s remote control at the learning eye of the SRC-1600. 7. Continua lly press the co rresponding button on your existing remote control until the SRC-1600 LED lights.
Deleting codes 17 NOTES: • Programming a button ov erwrites any previ ous function. • When the SRC-1600 has successfully learned a function i t beeps once and the LED lights up until you release the remo te control’s button. Deleting codes You can delete codes if you no longer want to use the function or if you want to reprogram a button.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 18 Deleting codes one button at a time 1. Select the appropriate device by pressing the device button. 2. Press and hold to enter setup. 3. Press . 4. Press the bu tton you want to d ele te. 5. Repeat step 4 for all the buttons you want to delete.
Creating Macros 19 Creating Macros A macro is a sequence of commands . The Macro feature en ables you to s end a sequenc e of up to 60 commands by pressing a single button. The macro can also include delays. NOTE: Assigning a macro to any button overwrites any previo us function.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 20 7. Press to confirm or to discard the macro. The button’s original function will be preserved. 8. To set another macro, repeat steps 3 ~ 7. 9. After you have finished sett ing macros, press to l eave th is mode. NOTES: • Each macro can store up to 60 commands, including delays.
Resetting factory defaults 21 Resetting factory defaults Resetting factory de faults deletes all functions and restores them to the original factory set up. You will lose all macros a nd user-def ined butto ns. Resetting defaults canno t be undone. 1.
22 Chapter 4 Using the SRC-1600 Use the SRC-1600 as you would any IR remote control by pointing it at the device you want to control and pressing the appropriate button. Buttons which are correctly programmed using the preset codes or learning feat ure emit a single beep when pressed and the LED lights up bri efly.
Record button protection 23 Record button protection The SRC-1600 has a pro tection feature to pre vent accidental recording of videotapes, hard disks or DVDs. The record button must be pressed for two seconds to be gin re cording. NOTE: This only applies to th e record button.

The device icon fl ashes on th e to uch scre en. 3. While the device icon is fl ashing, quickly press TV or RECV within three seconds.
Auto power-off 25 Auto power-off To save power, the SRC-1600 automatically powers off after 90 seconds. Wake up sensor The SRC-1600 also has an internal motion detector. You can turn i t on again by moving the SRC-1600 or press any key on it. Backlight The SRC-1600 has a blue backlight to make using it in the dark room easily.
26 Chapter 5 Miscellaneous settings Usi ng the o pti ona l ac ce sso ri es ( see O pti on al Accessories on page 28) you can copy settings to and from another SRC-1600 to your own SRC- 1600, as well as backup y our settings, update the preset code database, and upgrade the firmware.
Using the transmission feature 27 If the transmission was unsuccessfu l, the SRC-16 00 emits three beeps and the LCD displays the right side pattern. Press any key to exit, then repeat step 3 to retransmit the data. NOTE: Make sure to transmit the data from a source SRC-1600 that has been programmed correctly.

Optional accessories 29 Optional accessories USB Cable Transmit Cable The SLC-2080 is an optional USB cable that enables transmission of system setup between a PC and the SRC-1600. With the Transmit Cable, the SRC-160 0 also can duplicate the user setup data from one unit to another.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 30 Troubleshooting Problem solution Touch screen does no t display anythi ng when touched. *Check the batteries are installed correctly. *The batteries may be discharged. Replace the batteries as descri bed in Installing batteri es on page 4.
Troubleshooting 31 Problem solution The SRC-1600 cannot operate a device after learning a functi on. *Check the SRC-1600 has learned the functi on correctly. (Se e P 15 ) *Delete the c ode and teach the SRC-1600 again. (See P17, P15) *Check you used the correct remote to tea ch the SRC- 1600.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 32 Problem solution The LED does not li ght up when you press a button. *The LED does not li ght up when the button doesn’t hav e a function in it. Please i nput an IR c od es in it. *Check the button tha t you pressed has been program med th e co de in it .
Troubleshooting 33 Problem solution *Check you are holdi ng the target remote ’s button until the LED lights up to confirm thi s function i s learned. *Do not teach the SRC-1600 near incandescen t lights. *Sometimes the code’ s frequency is out of the l earning range.
SRC-1600 User’s Manual 34 Problem solution A button on your existing remote performs two or more functions. *Some remotes issue multiple codes when a single button is pressed. Teach separa te buttons on the SRC-1600 for these different codes . The touch screen turns off.
