Chapter 1 Introduction 1-1 Overview Supermicro’s SC213 chassis provides 16 hot-swappable 2.5” SAS/SA T A hard drive bays, one 5.25” hard drive, one slim DVD and one slim oppy drive in an efcient 2U form factor , designed for the most frequently encountered applications.

4-5 Chapter 4: Chassis Setup and Maintenance I/O Shield The I/O shield holds the motherboar d ports in place. Install the I/O shie ld before installing the mother board. If the mother board you purch ased did not include a standard I/ O shield, contact the motherboa rd vendor for a co mpatible shield.

4-15 Chapter 4: Chassis Setup and Maintenance Installation Complete In most cases, the chassis power supp ly a nd fa ns a re p re-installed. If you need to install fans continue to the Systems Fan section of this chapter . If the chassis will be installed into a rack, continue to the next chapter for rack installation instructions.
SC213 Chassis Manual 4-16 Three heavy duty fans p rovide cooli ng for the c hassis. These fans circulate air through the chassis as a means of lowering the chassis internal temperature. The SC213 fans are hot-swappable, enabling the fans to be re placed without powering -down the system.

SC213 Chassis Manual 4-18 The SC213 chassis has two redundant 720 or 900 W att power supplies. The power modules are ho t-swappable, enabling the pow er supplies to b e changed without powering dow n the system. These power sup plies are auto-switch ing capable.

In ord er to change ju mper settings o n the backplane, it may be necessary to remove the backplane from the chassis.

This tab locks the chassis into place when installed and p ushed fully into th e rack. Thes e tabs also lock the chas sis in place when fully extended from the rack.
