15 C V500 - 4CH CONNECTING AND POWERING ON THE DVR Note: W e recommend using a sur ge protected pow er bar and/or Uninterrupted P ow er Supply (UPS) backup to prev ent damage to your DVR system. 1. Inser t the power cor d into the power supply . 2. Plug the power cor d into a po wer outlet .
16 C V500 - 4CH GET TING ST ARTED Now that y ou hav e pow ered up the D VR and properly connected to a TV or monitor you are r eady to begin using and customizing the D VR for your specic needs. The DVR will aut omatically begin rec ording once it has been po wer ed on and initialized .

19 C V500 - 4CH DISPLA Y Y ou can choose whether or not to display an y individual camera. By setting the display t o OFF the camera will not be display ed in live viewing , howev er the camera channel will con tinue to rec ord as per the dened r ecor ding settings.

21 C V500 - 4CH TO SET MO TION DETEC TION 1. Selec t the camera you wish to congur e the motion detection for . 2. Use the mouse wheel, or the dir ectional arrow buttons t o toggle between on and o . MOTION DETEC T Motion detection can be set to ON or OFF .
22 C V500 - 4CH PPS PPS stands for Pictures P er Second and ref ers to how man y pictures will be captured in 1 second . T he more PPS, the smoother the video , and the less PPS the more chopp y the video will appear . Normal rec ord PPS will adjust the PPS for full r ecor d and manual recor d mode.
23 C V500 - 4CH ALARM RECORD PPS Y ou can change the PPS for alarm rec ord . Y ou may wish t o change the alarm PPS so that ther e is a higher PPS for when an alarm (e.g . motion) is detected by the DVR and a lo wer PPS for Normal Recor d. T o Change the Alarm Record PPS: 1.
24 C V500 - 4CH RECORD QU ALIT Y Ther e are four lev els of rec ord quality you can choose fr om, and it is adjustable per camera if rec ording with 720 x 240 r esolution. If using 360 x 240 resolution, camera 1 & 2 quality will be adjusted t ogether and 3 & 4 will be adjusted together: 1.
25 C V500 - 4CH SCHEDULE SETUP A schedule can be used to customiz e your r ecording modes b y the hour for every day of the w eek. This is benecial for business en vironments tha t hav e dieren t hours during week days and the w eekend .
26 C V500 - 4CH ALARM SETUP 1. Access the Main Menu by pr essing Menu or mov e the mouse to the bottom of the displa y screen t o rev eal pop up Menu bar and click the Menu icon . 2. Selec t the ALARM setup icon . There are s everal dier ent types of events that will trigger the Alarm Recording.
27 C V500 - 4CH VIDEO L OSS DETEC T Y ou can set the DVR to ar chive video footage when it det ects video loss. Since video loss is a serious issue for camera surveillance, it is important to be able to see what happened befor e the video loss occurs .
28 C V500 - 4CH MAIN MENU ...continued T o Change the Buzzer Time: 1. Highlight BUZZER TIME SETUP . 2. Selec t to access the Buzzer Time Setup Menu. 3. Highlight the type of alarm you want t o set. 4. Use the mouse wheel or directional keys to change the length of time the buzz er will sound when the alarm is detected.
29 C V500 - 4CH OVERWRITE MODE The D VR provides y ou with the option to automa tically ov er write the sav ed video and audio conten t on the HDD or to stop r ecording when the HDD is full. The default setting is ON and will automa tically overwrite old footage.
30 C V500 - 4CH T o Setup the Passw ord Protec t: 1. Selec t HDD P ASSWORD PROTECT . 2. Use the mouse wheel or directional keys to change fr om disable to enable . T his will requir e the HDD passwor d setup to be ent ered befor e accessing the HDD forma t Menu while enabled.
31 C V500 - 4CH IP Mode: Static vs . DCHP A DCHP (Dynamic Host Congura tion Pr otocol) addr ess is the most common setup for home or oce networks . This allows the DVR to aut omatically receiv e an IP addr ess from the r outer . By default the IP MODE should be set to DHCP and this is ac ceptable in most situations .
32 C V500 - 4CH T o Setup your DDNS: 1. Selec t to setup the DDNS. 2. Highlight DDNS Setting. Use the mouse wheel or dir ectional keys to change from DISABLE to ENABLE. 3. Highlight PROVIDER. Choose your DDNS pr ovider fr om the list. 4. Highlight HOST NAME.
33 C V500 - 4CH Record Time: The start and end time is used to display the initial time and dat e when recor ding began and the nal dat e and time when the recor ding nished (or the la test dat e and time when backup Menu was acc essed).

35 C V500 - 4CH SYSTEM SETUP ...continued Syst em T ype The two syst em types that are a vailable on this DVR ar e P AL and NTSC. The North American standard is NTSC and should only be set t o P AL if the TV or monitor that the D VR is connecting to uses only P AL format .

37 C V500 - 4CH Load Setup From USB This option can only be used if the DVR settings ha ve been pr eviously backed up t o USB. The D VR settings will be saved on the USB driv e as DVR.cfg . Backup Setup to USB This will sa ve the curren t DVR settings to a USB ash driv e.

47 C V500 - 4CH VIEWING Y OUR DVR OUTSIDE OF Y OUR NETWORK Now that y ou hav e successfully view ed your D VR and cameras from a c omputer it is time to set up y our rout er to view the DVR while a t a remote location.
48 C V500 - 4CH TESTING Now that y ou know y our external IP address , you can perform a test to ensur e your DVR is ac cessible from outside y our network ( over the in ternet). This t est should be per formed by a computer tha t is not on the same network as the DVR.
49 C V500 - 4CH T o Congur e the DVR to W ork with DDNS: 1. Press Menu and select NETWORK SETUP . Inser t password if requir ed . The default passw ord is “1111” .

54 C V500 - 4CH DVR CONFIGURA TION OPTIONS SYSTEM OPTIONS - The system information, netw ork information and other options ar e display ed when this option is clicked . Syst em Information Ser ver Name : This is the name of y our DVR. It will displa yed in the title of the w eb browser and can be used to distinguish your D VR from another .
55 C V500 - 4CH IP Setting DHCP/Static : Choose whether y our network uses DHCP IP address or a Sta tic IP address . Generally most networks user DHCP automatically assigned IP addr esses. See NETWORK SETUP for more inf ormation regar ding DHCP/ST A TIC IP addresses .
56 C V500 - 4CH Schedule Update: D enes how often the DVR will upda te the DDNS websit e with it’ s curren t IP address Informa tion. This should not be set to less then 60 minutes as some DDNS pr oviders ma y temporarily block the DVR. State: D isplays the curren t state of the D VR.
57 C V500 - 4CH O ther Options Play er : Allows y ou to download the D VR player softwar e for your c omputer . Mobile Vie wer : Allows you t o set up and/or congure settings on the mobile online view er .
58 C V500 - 4CH From Y our Mobile Device: • Open up the web br owser application • Click Options and choose the option that will allow y ou to type in a URL • T ype in r tsp://74.11.213.177/CH03 This will pull up channel 3 of y our DVR if port for war ding settings ar e set up corr ec tly and your phone is compatible with this D VR.
59 C V500 - 4CH 5. Y our router is blocking y our computer fr om using the External IP Addr ess from the same network as the D VR. T r y connecting to the External IP Addr ess from a r emote comput er that is not connected to the same network. 6. Port 80 is being blocked by y our ISP (Internet Service Provider).
60 C V500 - 4CH 2. Connect the mobile device to your PC t o download the mobile software . • Open up My C omputer . Y ou should see your mobile device listed as a remov able device • Open up the F.
