1 The T arg us Stowaway Port able Keyboard The S t owaway ™ Portabl e Keyboard is a convenient soluti on for typing dat a and commands into your Compaq iP AQ ™ Pocket PC.

3 2 Insert the S t owaway keyboard software CD into your computer ’s CD-ROM drive. Setup begins automatically . 3 If setup does not begin automat i cally , open Windows Explorer and double-cl ick the CD-ROM icon. Then doubl e-click the setup.exe file to r un the inst allation program.
4 T o complet e the inst allation, f ollow the on-scr een instr uctions on your iP AQ. T o verify t hat installat i on is complete on your iP AQ, t ap Start .
5 Setting Up the S towaway Portabl e K eyboard NOTE: Y ou mu st install t he Stowaway keybo ard softw are before you can begin usi ng the keyb oard . For more informati on, see “Instal ling the Stowaway Portable Key bo ard Software” on page 2.
6 2 Unfold t he keyboard and se t it o n a firm, fl at surface. Unfold ing t he Stowa way keyb oard 3 Slide the red end-gri ps inward, bringing the keyboard sect ions together .
7 Attaching Your iPAQ 1 Slide the docking mec hani sm, located at the top of the keyboard, all the way out of the keyboard until the PDA foot flip s up.
8 3 If your iP AQ needs charging, connect the AC adapter to the righ t angl e power connector dongl e, then connect the dongle to your iP A Q. CAUTION: You must use the right ang le power conn ector don gl e that comes wi th the keyboa rd.
9 Closing the Stowaw ay Portable Keyboard 1 Pull your iP AQ upward to remove it from the docki ng connector and dis- connect t he right angle p ower connector (if connected). 2 Fold down t he docking connector and PDA foot until flat, then slide the docking mechanism in to the keyboard.
10 4 Lift the keyb oard, push the center up to for m a “W ,” then close the keyboard, pres sing the four corners of the case toget her unt il they click into pl ace.
11 Using Y our S towaway Po rt able Keyboard St arting th e Keyboard Software After i nstal ling the S towaway keyboard software and rest arting your Comp aq iP AQ Pocket PC, the keyboard sof twar e runs auto m atically and you can use the keyboar d at any time t o enter c haracters or comma nds.
12 Key Se quenc e Emul a tes Resu lt Fn + Caps Lock Num Lock key All keys em bedded w ith bro wn charact ers are acce ssible by enab ling the Num Loc k setting. E nabling Nu m Lo ck emulates a 10-key keypad interface found on mo st stand ard keyboard s.
13 Navigation Keys The navigati on or arrow keys, located in the lower-right corner of the S t owaway keyboard, enable you to quic kly relocate t he cursor on your iP AQ by u sing the Fn, Shift, and Ctrl keys in combinati on wi th the arrow keys. The following tabl e list s the availa ble navigation key combinat io ns.

17 T o change t hese settings, open t he S towaway applicati on. Y ou will see the Config t ab at the bot tom of the S towaway Settings wind ow . Stow away C onf ig ta b Set your prefer ences and cl ose the window by pressing Fn + Enter on the keyboard or tapping OK on the iP AQ to save your changes.
18 Assigning Hot-Keys The S towaway keyboard sof twar e provi des ten user-definabl e hot-keys through the use of the Fn key pl us the 1 thr ough 0 keys acros s the top of the keyboard. T o define t hese hot-keys: 1 Open the S towaway applicati on, then tap the Hot-Key t ab.
19 2 Choose the Fn + number you want to assign, then t ap on the d rop-down menu arrow . An application list appears. Fn + numbe r assig nment scre en 3 Select the applica tion you want to assign to the Fn + number .
20 T o assign an F n key to open a specific file, such as a W ord or Excel document : 1 From the Hot -Key t ab, choose the Fn + number you want t o assign, then tap on the dr op-down menu arrow .
21 A list of data f iles appears. Select H ot-Key file scre en 3 T ap on the specific fi le you want to assign to the Fn + number . The S towaway Hot-Key t ab screen appears. Closing the S towaway application by pressing Fn + Enter on the ke yboa rd or t app i n g OK on the iP AQ saves the Fn + number assignments automatically .
22 Accessing Help from the About Tab The About t ab in the S towaway appli cation all ows you to view th e S towaway keyboard soft ware version, copyright and tr ademark informati on, and also conta ins the S t owaway keyboard Hel p button. T o access About, open the S towaway application, then t ap the About tab.
23 The S towaway Help content s screen appears. Stowaw a y Help co ntent s screen T o view all of the Help topi cs for your iP AQ from the S towaway Help file, tap View in the lower- left corner , and then tap All Ins t a lle d Hel p .
24 T roublesh ooting Frequently Asked Questions What should I do when I type on the keyboard, and nothing happens? • Check that your Comp aq iP AQ Pocket PC is charged, or that you have the AC adapter firml y connect ed to a w orking outlet . • Make sure that your iP AQ is properly connect ed to the S towaway Portable Keyboard.
25 Can I use my keyboard while I am using the PC Card Expa ns ion Pack or the CF Card Expansion Pack? Y es, if the expansi ons don’ t use the same communications port as the keyboard. Other wise you will have to switch between the keyboard and the expansi on.
