2 3 4 1 5 Connections and initial set up 3 EN EN Connecting: D VD pla y er + TV set + VCR If you are only connecting your player to your television set, only car r y out the connections shown in stages 1 and 5. If no Scar t-P er itel socket is av ailable on the TV set consult your retailer .
Connections and initial set up 4 Sock ets and cables There ar e several wa ys in which you can incorporate y our D VD pla yer into an Audio-Video system. The simplest of these is described on page 3. This uses Scart-Peritel cables that combine Audio analogue connections for sound, and Video for the RGB image.
Connections and initial set up 5 EN EN VIDEO sock ets and cables (for ima ge) 3 - Component output (Y , P R ,P B ) YP B P R sock ets deliver an optim um image quality due to the separation of the video signal into three separate components (comparable with RGB separation in a Scart-Peritel cable).
Connections and initial set up 6 Pla y er displa y panel ST ANDBY/ON - T urns the pla yer on or off. The light is off when the pla yer is running and lit up when the pla yer is switched off (in stand-by mode). OPEN/CLOSE - Opens and shuts the disc tra y .

Pla ying a disc 13 EN EN T o access the information banner , press INFO on y our remote contr ol unit during pla yback. Use arr ow ke ys and on the remote contr ol unit to select the various icons. When an icon is selected it is highlighted. The line under the banner is an information and instruction line.

Pla ying a disc 15 EN EN Languag es of sub-titles and dialogues (D VD) 1. While a disc is in pla y press the green k ey for sub-titles or red k ey for dialogues (the information banner is displa yed), the corresponding icon is already selected.
Pla ying a disc 16 Pla ying imag es (JPEG), and sounds (mp3, WMA) files Y our pla yer can pla y JPEG files with a resolution of up to fiv e million pixels. Howev er beyond 400,000 pix els there is no per ceptible improv ement in the quality of pictures displa yed on your TV screen.
Pla ying a disc 17 EN EN Pla ying image files (JPEG) 1. Load a disc and begin pla y . The list of folders (and / or photogra phs) is displa yed. 2. Select a folder using the or k eys on the r emote contr ol unit and press OK . The list of files contained in the folder is displa yed.
18 Menus Menus on y our D VD pla y er (basic principles for use) The functions of your D VD play er are not all accessible directl y through the r emote control or fr ont panel ke ys. A cer tain number of functions ar e accessible thr ough menus that you can displa y or remo ve as y ou wish.

Menus 20 P arental Contr ol Y ou pla yer mak es it possible to set ratings limits to pla ying discs and to lock pla yback for discs that contain information or scenes that exceed the ratings limit y ou ha ve set. This function allows you, for instance , to contr ol the type of matter a child can watch.
Menus 21 EN EN Changing a passw ord 1. If a disc is being pla yed, press ST OP (the pla yer menu appears). 2. Press to highlight P arental Contr ol and press OK (if requested to do so k ey in y our passwor d; the P arental Contr ol menu appears).
Menus 22 Displa y menu The Displa y menu pr ovides you with settings to ada pt the picture format and TV standard (P AL/NTSC) to that of your TV set. Y ou can also adjust the brightness of the pla yer’ s displa y panel and activate the Pr ogressiv e Scan function.

Menus 24 Sound menu The Sound menu pr ovides you with settings so y ou can adapt y our pla yer to the devices connected. It also enables you to access specific functions. Sound Logic This function is designed for night-time listening to a void disturbing y our neighbours.

Menus 26 Languag e menus Y our pla yer giv es you a selection of languages to choose fr om. Y ou can change the language of the pla yer menus, the language of the disc menus, the language of the dialogues and that of the subtitles. In the menu, choose y our pref err ed language for dialogues and subtitles.
