4 EN Unpacking Unpack your T omT om GO box and identify the contents. The model number of your T omT om GO can be found on the bottom of the device itself.
EN 5 What's in the box? NOTE: Do not expose T omT om GO to high or low temperatures. We r ecommend that you do not leave T omT om GO in dir ect sunlight for long periods or in an unattended car on sunny days. High or low temperatur es can cause per manent damage.

EN 9 Switching on for the first time Using the r emote contr ol The remote contr ol is included with the GO 700 model and is also available as an accessory for GO 700 and GO 500 models. Y ou can use the T omT om remote contr ol instead of the main touchscreen in cir cumstances wher e you’d rather not reach over and tap the scr een dir ectly.

EN TR 11 How to plan your first r oute 4. The best way to see how your T omT om GO works is to use it for r eal, so think of the addr ess that you want to visit and enter the first few letters of the city, town or village.
12 EN How to plan your first r oute 7. The fastest r oute fr om your cur rent position to your destination is then calculated. This should only take a few seconds and its pro- gr ess is shown on the scr een. When done, a summar y is shown, on a suitably scaled map.
EN 13 What’ s on the scr een? What’s on the scr een? Much of the information on the main navigation view is configurable (see the ‘Pr efer ences’ chapter for details). If you miss a voice instr uction, tap on the tur n instr uction in the bottom left hand cor ner to generate a new one.

16 EN TR Pr efer ences Pr e fer ences Y ou can change much of the look and feel of your T omT om system to your own liking by using the main menu option ‘Change pr efer ences’ . Use to cycle through the dif fer ent pages of pr efer ences. Her e are some of the most important ones (you’ll find the full set in the manual on CD).
EN 17 Pr efer ences Manage POI POI is an abbreviation you’ll see a lot, standing for ‘Point Of Interest’. Dozens of categories of POIs are built-in, fr om airpor ts to petrol stations, fr om r estaurants to theatres.
18 EN Connecting to your phone Using GO 700 or GO 500 If you have a Bluetooth-capable mobile phone then you can use your T omT om GO 700 or GO 500 as a hands-free car kit.
