4 Safety P recautions This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like any electrical equipment, care must be taken to obtain the best results and for safety to be assured. Please read the points below for your own safety .
5 Installation and important information Where to install Locate the television away from direct sunlight and strong lights, soft, indirect lighting is recommended for comfortable viewing. Use curtains or blinds to prevent direct sunlight falling on the screen.
6 The remote control UP Simple at-a-glance reference of your remote control. Re move the back cover to reveal the battery compartment and make sure the batteries are inserted the right way round. Suitable battery types for this remote are AAA, IEC R03 1.
7 Connecting external equipment Before connecting any external equipment, turn off all main power switches. If there is no switch remove the mains plug from the wall socket. It is designed for best performance with 1080i and 1080p high-definition video signals but will also accept and display 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p and 720p signals.

9 Controls and input connections If the RED LED is unlit check that the mains plug is connected to the power supply . If the picture does not appear press i on the remote control, it may take a few moments.
10 T uning Digital television for the first time Before switching on the television put your decoder and media recorder to Standby if they are connected and ensure the aerial is connected. T o set up the television use the buttons on the remote control as detailed on page 6.
Use e or f to move through the list to select a programme then press OK to view . 3 11 NOTE: As new services are broadcast it will be necessary to re-tune the television in order to view them. Digital auto tuning The television will start to search for all available stations.
NOTE: When the television is switched off the mode being viewed at the time will automatically be selected when the television is switched back on. 12 Digital programme sorting , manual tuning With the list of stations now showing use e or f to highlight the station you want to move and press x .
13 T uning Analogue mode for the first time The Quick Setup feature will tune all analogue channels currently available in the area. T o put the television into AT V mode press the A/D button.

Using Auto tuning 1 2 3 4 5 To set up the television using Auto tuning , press MENU and use z or x to select the SET UP menu. Y ou must allow the television to complete the search. When the search is complete the television will automatically select programme position 1.

26 The timers Pre ss e to select the Sleep timer . Use the number buttons to set the required time. For example, to switch the television off in one and a half hours enter 01:30, or press z or x to increase/decrease in steps of 10 minutes. Pre ss EXIT to finish.
27 Digital on- screen information and P rogramme Guide When viewing in digital mode, the on-screen information and programme guide give access to programme details for all available channels. The details of the programme will have been added to the screen.
28 Digital settings – parental control In order to prevent viewing of unsuitable films and programmes, channels and menus can be locked. These can then only be accessed with a security code PIN when in digital mode.
