3 Introduction Welcome to T oshiba • Thank you for purchasing this T oshiba LCD Colour T ele vision. This manual will help you use the exciting f eatures of your ne w TV .
4 4) Never block or co ver the slots and openings in the cabinet. • Nev er place the TV so that it is facing upward or on its side. • Nev er place the TV in a closet, bookcase or other similar area where the ventilation is poor . • Nev er drape a newspaper , tablecloth or cur tain on the TV .
5 10) Precautions for installing on outdoor aerial An outside aerial system should not be located in the vicinity of ov erhead power lines, or other electric light or power circuits. If the aerial falls down or drops , it may cause an injury or an electr ic shock.
6 6) Never pull on the power cor d when removing the plug fr om the wall outlet. Alwa ys hold the plug fi rmly when removing it. If the power cord is y anked, the cord may become damaged and a fi re or an electr ic shock ma y occur . 7) Never cut, break, modify , twist, bunch up or bent the cord or appl y excessive f orce or tension to it.
7 Cleaning 1) Remove the power plug bef ore cleaning. Nev er use solvents such as benzine or thinner to clean the TV . • These solvents ma y distor t the cabinet or damage its fi nish. • If rubber or vinyl products remain in contact with the TV for a long time, a stain ma y result.
8 Connecting an aerial Optimum reception of colour requires a good signal and will generally mean that an outdoor aerial must be used. The exact type and positioning of the aerial will depend upon your particular area. Y our T oshiba dealer or ser vice personnel can best advise you on which aerial to use in your area.
9 Getting started TV front and side panel controls • Y ou can operate your TV using the buttons on the bottom of the panel or the remote control. The back and side of the panel pro vide the terminal connections to connect other equipment to your TV ( - “Connecting y our TV” pages 26-31).

12 Getting started T urning the TV on Switching on the TV Connect the power cord to a w all outlet, the ! power indicator lights in red (standb y mode). 1 Press 1 on the remote control or ! on the TV bottom of the panel, the ! power indicator lights in green.

15 E. Channel search operation Press U to search up the band or u to search down the band. Press u or U repeatedly until your desired channel is display ed. When a station/satellite is found, it will be display ed. NEVER PRESS ANY O THER BUTTONS WHILE THE SET IS TUNING.
16 Using the TV’ s features Picture adjustment Selecting the picture size 1 Press , the picture size appears on the screen. 2 Press repeatedly to select required picture size directly . Wide Use this setting when watching a wide-screen D VD , widescreen video tape or a 16:9 broadcast (when av ailable).
17 Using the TV’ s features Native Use this setting for PC connected via HDMI. When receiving video signal source via HDMI input, this setting will display the image correctly without distor tion or picture clipping.
18 Using the TV’ s features Selecting the picture mode Y ou can select the picture quality instantly among three preset modes and one user-set mode. • Press q to select the desired picture quality .

23 Using the TV’ s features Selecting the video input source to view 1 Press o or press Q on the remote control until the video input mode list appears on the screen, then press u , U or o to select appropriate input source (or press o on the TV bottom of the panel to select required input source directly).

26 Connecting your TV Back connections Y ou can connect a wide variety of auxiliary equipment via the terminals located on the back of the panel o (2) .
27 Connecting your TV • This TV is only operable with L-PCM on 32/44.1/48 kHz and 16/20/24 bits. If there is no sound when using HDMI, use the analogue audio cables to connect the TV and the HDMI device , and select Analogue in HDMI audio of the A V connection menu ( - page 28).
28 Connecting your TV Selecting the PC/HDMI1 audio mode Y ou can select PC audio ( - page 29) or HDMI1 audio when using this function. 1 Press MENU , then press I or i to display the SETUP menu.
29 Connecting your TV Connecting a computer T o connect a PC to the RGB/PC terminal on the TV: An analogue RGB (15 pin) computer cable can be connected.
30 Connecting your TV T o connect a PC to the HDMI terminal on the TV: When connecting a PC to the HDMI terminal on the TV , use an HDMI-to D VI adapter cable and analogue audio cables . If connecting a PC with an HDMI terminal, use an HDMI cable (type A connector).
