TOSHIBA 1.0 Product Description 1.1 Theory of Operation An Uninterruptible Power Sy stem (UPS) is a sy stem that is installed between the comm ercial power and the load equipment. The UPS provides steady AC output power du ring commercial power fluctuations and interru ptions.
TOSHIBA 2.0 Unpacking/Inspectio n/Storage/Disposal 2.1 Unpacking the UPS Equipment 1) Upon receipt of the UPS, a careful insp ection for shipping damage should be made. 2) For international units, remove the scre ws t hat attach the shipping crate panels to each other and to the pallet.
TOSHIBA 2.2 UPS Equipment Inspection UPS Equipment Inspection Upon receipt of the UPS, a careful insp ection for shipping damage should be made. Use caution when removing uni t from pallet. Refer to labels or documen tation attached to packing material.
TOSHIBA 3.0 Precautions Because of the external dimensions of the 420 0FA UPS and the way the outer panel s are to be removed; only a minimum amount of space arou nd the unit is required for ventilation and maintenance access. Figure 3.1 shows the minimum clea rances required for proper UPS installation.
TOSHIBA 11) After ensuring that all pow er sources are turned off and isol ated in accordance with established lockout/tagout pro cedures, connect power source wiri ng of the correct voltage to the input terminals of the UPS.
TOSHIBA CAUTION Do not EPO (Emergency Power OFF) the UPS and th en reset the breaker until the UPS has been fully discharge d. The UPS could be damaged if the unit is not fully powered down before the breaker is reset.
