1 Introduction Thank you for purchasing the ICC PBDP- 110 Prof ibus-DP Communicat ions Interf ace for the Toshiba 7-Ser ies and 9-Series Adjust able Speed Drives. Befor e using the PBDP-110 interf ace, please fam iliarize yourself with the unit and be sure to thoroug hly read the instructions and pr ecautions contained in this manual.

8 2. F ea tur e Summary The PBDP-110 int erface pr ovides a wi de array of net work data access and drive control f eatures. Combined with the flexible conf igurat ion and high-speed dat a transf er capabilities of the Pr ofibus net work, this allows powerful net worked control and monitoring systems to be designed.
9 Global Cont rol Functions • Freeze mode : Input (mon itor) data v alues are h eld constan t withi n the P BDP- 110 until the next “f reeze” comm and or an “unf reeze” command is received. Used prim arily for synchronized monitor ing of multiple Prof ibus nodes.
10 In addition to t he above signals, the m etallic housing of the DB9 connect or is connected to the shield sect ion of t he interf ace board. T he shield section is attached to the met al ground t erminal on the bot tom of the unit, where a ground wire can be attached to connect the Prof ibus network cable shield to ground.

12 3. Installing The Interf ace The PBDP-110 connect s to each drive via the drive’s common serial (log ic level) communication por t, typically located on either t he main drive contro l board (G7).
13 CNU2A (on the EOI ), then t his connection must f irst be switched over to CNU1 (on the drive contr ol board) and CNU1A (on t he EOI). Refer to To shiba’s documentation f or any precautions or not ices regarding this connection change. If the EOI is alr eady connected via the RS485/RS232 channel, then no chang e is required .

15 4. Gr ounding Grounding is of par ticular impor tance f or reliable, st able operation. Com munication system characteristics may vary from system to system, depending on t he system environment and gr ounding met hod used. The PBDP- 110 Prof ibus interf ace is provided with a “Shield GND” ter minal on the bott om of the unit.

Maintenance And Inspection Prev entive mainte nance and i nspection is required to maintain the communicati on interf ace in its optim al condition, and t o ensure a long oper ational lif etime. Depending on usage and oper ating condit ions, perf orm a periodic inspect ion once eve ry three to si x mon ths.

Stor ag e And W arr anty 7.1 Storage Observe the f ollowing points when the communication inter face is not used immediately af ter purc hase or when it is not used f or an extended period of time. • Avoid storing the unit in places that are hot or humid, or that cont ain large quantit ies of dust or metallic dust .
18 8. Selecting the Pr of ibus Netw or k Addr ess The 8-posit ion piano-style “Address” DIP switches accessible f rom the f ront of t he unit allow selection of the Prof ibus slave address.

20 9. Ex c hanged Da ta Str uctur es 9.1 Output (Control) Data Format The size of t he output data st ructure f rom t he network mast er to the PBDP-110 depends on the module selected f rom the GSD f ile f or the network config uration tool.
21 Command Word Bit-mapped dr ive control command word (dr ive parameter num ber FA00). T his is the location where run/stop, etc. commands are writt en.
22 Frequency Command Drive parameter num ber FA01. T he data contained in the f req uency command word is the desired f requency comm and multiplied by 100, and then convert ed to hexadecimal. In other words, if a f req uency command of 55.34Hz is desired, then 55.
23 9.2 Input (Status) Data Format The size of t he input data str ucture f rom the PBDP- 110 to the network master depends on the module selected f rom the GSD f ile f or the network config uration tool.
24 Locations mark ed “Reserved” in the above table are reser ved for f uture use. Prese ntly , all “Res erve d” input data is set to 0 by the PBDP -110. Future firmw are releases, however, may use these locations for data transf er. The f ormat of all infor mation tr ansf erred f or Dr ive B is identical to that for Drive A.
25 Output Frequency Drive parameter num ber FD00. Cont inuously reports the dr ive’s operating f req uency. In order to determine the driv e’s actual output frequency , the data con tained in th e output f requency word off sets m ust f irst be converted f rom hexadecimal t o decimal, and then divided by 100.
26 9.3 Diagnostics W hen one of t he connected drives fault s, 1 byte of high-prior ity user diagnostics is suppl ied to the Pro f ibus maste r. The format of the diagnosti cs byte is sh own here : Bi.
27 10. P ar ameter R egister Access 10.1 Parameter Number / Action Output Words To access drive paramet ers, 2 output words and 2 action bits are provided in each drive’s output data str ucture.
28 10.2 Parameter Number / Action Input Words The response by the PBDP-110 t o paramet er read and write req uests is placed in 2 inpu t words and 2 inp ut bits of the inp ut data stru cture.
29 10.3 Parameter Access Procedure In order t o read f rom a param eter or write t o a parameter , 2 control bit s are provided for each drive’s data structur e. These bit s, labeled Req1 and Req 0 in the Act ion Bits wo rd, can ha ve the follo wing va lues: Req1 Req0 Meanin g 0 0 .
30 • If the req uest was a write, and t he write was perfor med succes sfully, t his will be indicated to the m aster by Resp1:Resp0 changing fr om 0:0 to 1: 0. The parameter number response will equal the accessed par ameter num ber, and the data written t o the drive will be reflect ed in the data / error code r esponse wor d.
31 11. P ar ameter R egister s The paramet ers that can be accessed via the paramet er register access method outlined in section 10 are def ined by the drive manuf acturer.
32 12. MMI P o r t Use / GSD Files The PBDP-110 Pr ofibus In terf ace is equipped with an on-board RS232 Man-Machine Interface (M MI) port. Th is port all ows the u nit to communica te to a standard personal computer via its serial (CO M) port.
