3 Overview Z-W ave™ Thermostat The Z-W av e™ thermostat provides f or typical ther mostat control of a central heating and cooling HV AC system plus has the added f eature of Z-W av e™ communications f or remote control. The ther mostat has a large , backlit gr aphical display , control b uttons, status LEDs and a temperature sensor .
4 Z-W ave™ Operation and Pr ogramming Z-W av e™ controllers from v ar ious manuf acturers ma y suppor t the Z-W av e™ Ther mostat General V2 De vice class used by the T rane Z-W ave™ Ther mostat. The f ollowing procedure will allow the thermostat to be added to a Z-W av e™ network.
5 Operation Thermostat Contr ol Buttons The Thermostats buttons are “Soft K eys” meaning that they change functions when you change screens . The function of the button is defined b y “on-screen labels” that are dynamic and change when you change screens .
Thermostat User Guide 6 User Settings Screen This screen is a submenu of user settings f or the initial setup of the thermostat. Y ou can set the cloc k, minimized screen timeout, F ahrenheit or Centigr ade selection, sensor calibration and displa y settings.

MENU Button 12 MENU Button The Menu b utton changes the screen display to the MAIN MENU screen which sho w what other functions are av ailable on the Thermostat.
Thermostat User Guide 12 MODE Button The MODE button controls the HV AC system mode . The current mode selected is display ed abov e the button. Pressing the MODE button will tak e you to the System Mode screen. Pressing the Up or Down b uttons will scroll through the mode options.

13 Main Menu The Thermostat has a menu tree that can be accessed by pressing the “Menu” button on the Main Thermostat screen. V arious configurations of the Ther mostat can ha ve diff erent screen contents. The first screen that will come up is the Menu Selection screen.
Thermostat User Guide 27 Schedules Schedules is an optional menu item. It will only show up in the menu list if “Schedules” is enab led in the Installer settings f or the ther mostat (See page 23). Provides f or local schedule control. The Schedules Screen allows you to re vie w and set the setback schedule f or the thermostat.
Heat and Cool Schedules 27 Heat and Cool Schedules When you select the Heat and Cool Schedule men u item, the “da y” Schedule progr amming screen opens and the schedule f or current day will be displa y ed. Use the scroll b uttons to highlight the data to be modified.

User Settings 27 User Settings The User Settings screen allows y ou to set or change various user options of the thermostat such as the Clock, Minimized Screen timeout, F ahrenheit/Celsius mode , Sensor Calibrations, and Displa y settings. Menu options: Set Clock: Select this menu item to go to the Clock setting screen.
Thermostat User Guide 27 Set Cloc k The Set Clock screen allo ws you to set the Ther mostat’ s internal clock. T o set the Time and Date, mov e the cursor with the navigation arro ws until the data you w ant to change is highlighted. Using the + and – buttons to increment or decrement the data to the desired setting.
Filter Service 27 Filter Service The Filter Ser vice screen will show the accum ulated Filter Runtime hours as well as the Ser vice Interval that will be used to trigger a Filter Message. Any type of HV A C operation that causes the HV A C system f an to r un will cause the Filter Runtime v alue to increase.
Thermostat User Guide 27 Maint Service The Maintenance Ser vice screen will show the accum ulated Heat and Cool Runtime hours as well as the Ser vice Interval that will be used to trigger a Maintenance Message. Any HEA T or COOL type of HV AC operation will cause the respectiv e Runtime v alues to increase.
Sensor Calibration 27 Sensor Calibration The Sensor Calibration screen allows y ou to change the temperature calibr ation of the inter nal temperature sensor .
Thermostat User Guide 27 Bac klite/Display The Backlite/Displa y screen allo ws you to set the Bac klite timeout and contrast. Backlite Timeout: Sets the time from last button press that the bac klite will timeout and turn off. The timeout v alue is adjustable from 0 or 20 to 120 seconds .
Thermostat Info 27 Thermostat Inf o The Thermostat Info screen displa ys the current configuration of the Z-W A VE Ther mostat. This inf or mation is useful f or quick chec k of firmware versions and HV AC system setup . It also shows the Zwa v e network setting.
Thermostat User Guide 27 Installer Settings Menu (Hid den Screen) The Installer Settings screen is a hidden screen designed f or installer use only . Do not change any settings in this screen unless you are a qualified service technician. Changing these settings will aff ect the operation of the heating/cooling system.

31 HV A C System Operation and Setup General Heating and Cooling Operation In the HEA TING mode, the heating system will be tur ned on at one degree belo w the setpoint and will tur n off at the setpoint.
