Unix Systems Your Wireless Print Server suppo rts the LPD Unix printing me thod, which is sup ported by all common Uni x systems. You must configure both the Wireless Prin t Server itself and your Unix system, as described in the following sections .
LPD Configuration Configuratio n for the m ost common pl atforms i s described belo w. LPD on IBM AIX 4.15 Before proceeding, en sure that the Wireless Print Serve r ha s been assigned an IP Address. To setup your AIX system for LPD printing, perform the following steps.
LPD on System V Before begi nning LPD Set up, ensure that an IP Address has been assigne d to the Wirele ss Print Server. Keep the following points in mind: The remote host name is the name of the Wireless Print Server. The remote printer name is t he print queue name for the L ogi cal Printer.
Where: Printer_name is the Print Queue name used to store jobs for the corresp onding logical printer. PS_NAME is the Wireless Print Server nam e defined in /etc/hosts. Logical_Printer_name is the logical printer name on the Wireless Print Server. (e.
LPD on BSD Before continuing, ensure that an IP Address has been assigned to the Wireless Pri nt Server. Remember the following: The remote host name is the name of the Wireless Print Server. The remote printer name is the logical printer (e.g. L1) on the Wireless Print Server.
Example: Marketing|RP1_PS123456: [T AB ] :lp=: [T AB ] :rm=PS_Rm203: [T AB ] :rp=L1: [T AB ] :sd=/usr/spool/Marketing: [T AB ] :mx#0: Repeat this process for each Logi cal Printer/Print Queu e combination that you wish to create. Printing using LPD For LPD printing instructions, refer to your UNIX manual.
Netware Systems Overview • The Print Server must be c onfigured as a valid device on y our TCP/IP net work. • To use N DPS (Novell Dist ributed Pri nting Services ), the Novell se rver must be running Novell NetWare 5, and the PCs (cli ents) must be running Int ranetWare Client V2.
9. After creating an NDPS Man ager, you can creat e NDPS print ers by using NetWare Administrat or, as explained bel ow. Creating an NDPS Printer Agent To create Public Access Print ers using the NDPS Mana ger Object in NetWare Adm inistrator, follow this procedure: 1.
12. Cli ck Finish , then select appropriat e drivers f or Windows 3.1 , Windows 95/98 etc as required. 13. The new Printer Agent will now appear in the Printer Agent List window. Repeat this procedu re for any other port s on the Print Server, or for an y other logical printers you wish t o use.
