6 BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE RATING PLATE This is situated on the l ower front frame of the appliance and can be se en upon opening the door. Alternatively the rating plate may also be found on the back or top of some models (where applicable). The appliance must be protected b y a suitably rated fuse or circuit breaker.
7 THE CERAMIC HOB Do not use the appliance if the cerami c glass is damaged. If a fault or crac k becomes visible, disconnect th e appliance immediately from the electricity supply and contact your local Service Force Centre. USING THE HOB • To operate the hotplates turn the control knobs i n either direction to vary the heat setting.
8 THE DUAL GRILL CAUTION – Accessible par t s may be ho t when the grill is in use. Young children should be kept away. The grill is a dual circuit grill which means that the full area of the grill can be used or for economy purposes, the centre sectio n only can be used when cooking smaller quantities of food.
9 HINTS AND TIPS • Most foods should be placed on the grid in the grill pan to allow maximum circulation of air to lift the food out of the fats and juices. • Adjust the grid and grill pan runner position to allow for different thickne s ses of food.
10 THE TOP OVEN The top oven is the small er of the two ovens. It is heated by elements in the top and bottom of the oven. It is designed for cooking small er quantities of food. It gives especially good results if used to coo k fruit cakes, sweets and savoury flans or quiche.
11 HINTS AND TIPS • All cooking should be carried out using an oven shelf positioned in one of the shelf runners. • There should always be at least 2.5cm (1”) between the top of the food and the element. This gives be st cooking results and allows room for rise in yeast mixtures, Yorkshire puddi ngs, etc.
12 THE MAIN OVEN The fan oven is particularl y suitable for cooking larger quantities of food. The advantages of fan ove n cooking are: PREHEATING The fan oven quickly reaches its tem perature, so it is not usually necessary to preh eat the oven.
13 HINTS AND TIPS • Arrange the shelves in the required positions before switching the oven on. Shelf posit ions are numbered from the bottom upwards.
14 OVEN COOKING CHART The oven temperatures are i ntended as a guide only. It may be nece ssary to increase or decrease the temperatures by 10°C to suit individual preferen ce s and requirements.
15 ROASTING CHART INTERNAL TEMPERATURES – Rare : 50-60°C; Medium : 60-70°C; Well done : 70-80 °C MEAT TEMPERATURE COOKING TIME Beef/ Beef boned 160-180°C 20-35 minutes per ½kg (1lb) and 20-35 m.
16 DEFROST FEATURE This function defrosts mo st foods faster than some conventional methods. It is parti cularly suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold e.g. cream filled gateaux, cakes co vered with icings or frostings, cheesecakes, biscuits , scones, etc.
17 CARE AND CLEANING Always s w itch off the electricity supply at the main wall switch and allow the appliance to cool before cleaning. CLEANING MATERIALS Before using any cleaning materials on you r appliance, check that they are suitable and that their use is recommended by th e manufacturer.
18 DAILY CLEANING Use the recommended Hob Brite Cleaner daily. If soilage is not allowed to burn on it will be much easier to clean off. 1. Apply a small amount of Hob Brite in the ce ntre of each area to be cleaned.
19 HINTS AND TIPS TO REDUCE HOB SOILAGE: • Make sure the bottom of the saucepa n and the cooking area are clea n and dry before cooking begins. • Ensure saucepan s are large enough to accommodate food to avoid boil overs. • If possible, wipe up spills and splatters as they occur, but take care to avoid steam burns.
20 CLEANING INSIDE THE GRILL AND OVEN COMPARTMENTS The vitreous enamel co ating in the grill/top oven and main oven compartments can be cleaned using normal oven cleaners o r aerosol oven clea ners with care. Ensure that the manufacturers i nstructions are followed and that all parts are well rinse d afterwa r ds.
21 TO REPLACE THE OUTER GLASS 1. Holding the oven do or glass with both han ds, gently place the locators into the hol es of the brackets at the bottom of the oven door. 2. Push the top of the oven glass towards the oven door, ensuring the screw locatio n holes line up.
22 SOMETHING NOT WORKING? Please carry out the following checks on your appliance before calling a S e rvice Engineer. It may be that the problem is a simple one which you can solve y ourself without the expense of a service call.
