11 BEFORE USING THE HOTPL A TES FOR THE FIRST TIME Turn the c ontrol k nob to a m edium /high settin g and a llow t he hotp late to heat, uncov ered by a sauc epan f or 3- 5 minutes . This hardens the pr otective coat ing on t he hotp lates an d m akes it m or e resistant to n orm al use.
12 DEEP FAT FR YING SPECI AL FRYING NOTE: For safet y purposes when deep fa t fr ying, fill the pan one third f ull of oil, DO NOT c over th e pan with a lid and DO NOT leave the p an unatt ended.

15 USES OF THE T OP OVEN The top oven is the s m aller of the two ov ens. It is heate d b y elem ents in the top and bottom of the oven. It is designed f or cook ing s m aller quan tities of f ood. It g ives espec ial ly go od res ults if used to cook f ruit cak es, sweet or savour y flans or quic he.
