2 TABLE OF CONTENTS FINDING MODEL NUMBER This Operator’s Manual is an import ant part of your new lawn mower. It will help you asse mble, prepare and maintain the unit fo r best performance.
3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES General Oper ation 1. Read this operator’s man ual carefully in its entirety before atte mpting to assemble this machine. Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the machine and in the manua l(s) before operation.

7 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWER Removing Unit From Carton • Remove staple s, break glue on top flap s, or cut tape at carton end an d peel along top flap to open. • Remove loose parts included with unit (i. e., operator’s manu al, oil, etc.
8 Attaching Starter Rope The rope guide is already at tached to the right side of the lower handle of your mowe r. See Figure 4 . • With spark p lug wire disconnect ed and grounded, hold the blade control hand le against the upper handle, and pu ll the starter rope ou t of the engine.
9 SECTION 4: KNOW YOUR LAWN MOWER Read this ow ner’s manual and safety rule s before operating your lawn mower. Compar e the illustrations in Figure 8 with your lawn mower to familiarize yourself with the location of various contro ls and adjustments.
10 SECTION 5: OPERATING YOUR LAWN MOWER Gas & Oil Fill-Up • Check oil level and add oil if necessary. Follow relevant instr uctions in the engine manual for this. • Service the engine with gasoline as instr ucted in the engine ma nual. Before Starting Mow er • Attach spark plu g wire to spark plug.
11 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN MOWER Cleaning Mower The underside of the mowe r deck should be cleaned after each use to preven t any build-up of grass clippings, leaves, dirt , or other debris. If this de bris is allowed to accumu late, it will result in rust and corrosion.
12 Engine • Follow the engine manu al instructions and recommended schedule for lubricating engine components. Blade Care • Periodically inspect the blade adapter and pulley for cracks, especially if yo u strike a fore ign object. Replace when necessary.
13 SECTION 7: SERVICE & ADJUSTMENTS Replacing Drive Belt • Remove two shoulder screws securing th e front drive cover to the mower de ck. See Figure 11. Figure 11 • Press inward o n the sides of t he front drive cover and releas e the tabs that secure t he front drive cover to the height adjuster bracket s.
14 Figure 14 • Reassemble t he upper handle to the lower hand le. • Place the hairpin clips in the inner holes of the we ld pins and replace th e carriage bolts and wing nuts on the handle bra ckets. Attach the star ter rope as instructed in the Assembly section.

16 SECTION 10: PARTS LIST FOR MODEL 466 IMPORTANT: For a proper working machine, use Factory Approved Parts. V-BELTS are specially designed to en gage and disengag e safely. A substitute (non OEM) V-Belt can be dangerous by not disengaging co mpletely.
