These st uds are usually me tal and golden. Usually, the chassis manufacturer will pre-install the support studs .

Although the pl ast ic studs are usable, TYAN recommend s using metal studs with screws that will fasten the motherb oar d more secur el y in place. 4. Locate four screw hol es on socke t and screw t he socket to the PCB board. NOTE: Do not assemble CPU before securing socket with screws. 5. Inspect Socket F assembly to PC B. The Soc ket F must be tight ly attached onto the PCB. Ther e must NOT be any gap b et ween stand off the PCB.
26 http://www.tyan. com Processor Installation The processo r shoul d be installed car e f ully. Make sure you are wearing an antistat ic strap and h andle the pr ocessor as l ittle as possible. Follow these instructio ns to install your proce ssor: 1.

28 http://www.tyan. com 2.21 – Installing the Mem ory Before attemp ting to ins tall any memo ry, please make s ure that the me mory you have is compatible w ith the mother board as well as the proc essor. The followin g diagram shows common t ypes of DDR2 memory modules.
29 http://www.tyan. com Memory Installation Proc edure When you install the memory modules, make sure the modu le al igns properly with the memory slo t. The modules are keyed to ensure that it is inserted o nly o ne way. The method of installing me m ory modules are detai led by the followi ng diagrams.
30 http://www.tyan. com 2.22 – Thermal Interface M ateri al There are two t ypes of ther mal interface mat erials desi gned for use w ith the A MD Opteron proc essor. The most common material comes as a small pad attached to t he heatsink at the t ime of purchase.

After placing t he back plate and interface material un der motherboar d , place heatsink retentio n frame on top of motherboard. 33 http://www.tyan. com 2.24 – Attachin g Drive Cables Attaching the IDE drive cable is simple. These ca bles are “keyed” to only al low them to be connected in the correct manner. TYAN mot her boards have two on-board IDE channels, each supporting two drives.
34 http://www.tyan. com SATA Drivers The S2937 is a lso equipped wit h 6 Se rial AT A (SATA) chan nels and 8 SAS connectors. Connections for t hese driv es are also very sim ple. There is no need to set Master/S lave jumpers on SATA dri ves. Tyan has supplied six SATA cables and three SA TA power adapters.
35 http://www.tyan. com Floppy Drives Attaching floppy diskette drive s are done in a similar manner to hard drives . S ee the picture below for an example of a floppy cable. Most of t he current floppy drives on the market req uire that the cable be inst al led with the color e d stripe positioned n ext to the power connector.
36 http://www.tyan. com 2.25 – Installing Add-In Cards Before installi ng add-in cards, it’s helpfu l to know if they are fully compatible with your motherboard. For this reason, we’ve provided the di agram s belo w, showing the most common slots that may appear on yo ur mother board.

The stand ard devices you should expect to plug into th e motherboard ar e keyboards, mice, and printer cables. The fo llowing diagram will det ail the ATX por t stack for the following board.

3.4.2.1 NV RAI D Co nf igur ation S ub-Men u NV RAID Configuration Enable/disable NVIDIA RAID control. SATA controller m ust be enabled for RAID feature to function. En abling Master SATA0 Seco ndary requires enabl ing Secondary SATA Channel. Both options are listed in Integrated Devices.
3.4.3 IDE Configurat ion This section allows you to f ine tune the IDE configuration. Large Disk Access Mode UNIX, Novell Netware or ot her operatin g systems, select [Other]. If you are installing new software and t he drive fail s, change this selection and try again.

This option l ets yo u set the following ha rd disk parameters: Type Selects the type of device connected to the system.
