Read This Before Installation We have designed your telephone to conform to Australia or New Zealand Radio Frequency regulations, and you can connect it to most telephone lines. However, each device that you connect draws power from the phone line. We refer to the power drawn as the devices ringer equivalence number or REN.
Installing the Telephone on a Desk or Tabletop Place the Base Unit on a desk or tabletop, and plug one end of the Telephone Line Cord (supplied) into the "TEL LINE" jack on the Base.
If you are mounting the XC 310 on an existing standard wall plate: 1. Plug one end of the Telephone Line Cord (supplied) into the "TEL LINE" jack on the top of the Base Unit. Lay the cord inside the molding on the bottom of the Base Unit. Then plug the other end of the cord into the telephone wall socket.
1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the Handset by sliding it down. 2. Connect the Nickel-Cadmium Battery Pack by plugging it into the socket at the top of the battery compartment. Note: The connector fits only one way and requires only a minimal amount of pressure to insert.
Low Battery Indicator When the Battery Pack in the Handset is very Iow and needs to be charged, the TALK/BAIT lOW LED flashes every 3 seconds. If this occurs while you are on the phone, a short alert beep will also sound. When this happens, complete your call as quickly as possible, and return the Handset to the Base Unit for charging.
Placing a Call To place a call with your XC 310: 1. Remove the Handset from the Base Unit and press TALK. 2. Dial the number you are calling. 3. When you have finished the call, press TALK or return the Handset to the Base Unit. NOTE: If you don't place the Handset back on the Base Unit, you will need to press TALK to hang up the phone.
Using the AutoStandby Feature When you finish a call and place the Handset back on the Base Unit, AutoStandbyautomatically hangs up the phone. There is no need to press TALK to hang up. NOTE: If you don't place the Handset back on the Base Unit, you need to press TALK to hang up the phone.
2. Enter the number to be dialed in Pulse Mode. 3. Press the If button on the Handset. (Note: The If button counts as one digit. ) 4. Enter the number to be dialed in Tone Mode. 5. If you wish to enter a delay between numbers (for accessing a switchboard, or long distance service), press RDLJP at the point in the number sequence you wish to pause.
Using the Page Feature The Page feature sends a signal from the Base Unit to the Handset causin~ it to beep. This is useful for locating the Handset when it is away from the Base Unit. Press the PAGE button on the Base Unit and listen for the tone from the Handset.
Troubleshooting If your XC 310 Cordless Telephone is not performing to your expectations, please try these simple steps. If you are still unable to resolve the problems, contact Uniden Customer Service for assistance. Note: Do not attempt to service this unit yourself.
Important Electrical Considerations Unplug all electrical appliances when you know an electrical storm is approaching. Lightning can pass through your household wiring and damage any device connected to it. The XC 310 is no exception. NOTE: Please do not attempt to unplug any appliance during an electrical storm.
