2 Introduction Thank you for purchasing this camera. Every thing you need to take quality digital photos and videos is included with your camera. Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible. Note: Your camera needs an SD Memory card (up to 32GB) for normal use.

5 W hen p owering the camera ON for the first time the camera will take you through the initial camera setup. Powering the Came ra ON 1) Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. Use 3x AAA (1.5v) batteries. Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for use.
6 Setting the ViviLink Default Option Once the Date and Time have been set, you w ill be asked to set the default Viv iLink de stination for photos and videos taken with your camera.
7 Main Camera Modes Your camera has different modes for the various camera functions. You can switch modes by pressing the MODE button on your camera after the camera has been powered ON. Photo Capture Mode Use this mode to capture pictures with your camera.

9 Computer Sy stem Requirements – WINDOW S OS To be able to download photos and videos to y o ur PC, you will need the following minimum configuration: Pentium 4 processor or above w ith W indow.
10 Using Your D igital Camera Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. If y our camera comes with a rechargeable lithium battery, make sure it is fully charged before the first use. Powering the came ra ON Press the Power button to turn your camera ON.
11 To change the active camera mode, make sure the camera is pow ered ON and press the MODE button on the back of the camera. When in Photo Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top -left corner.
12 Photo Cap ture Mode The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with y our digital camera. T aking a Picture 1) W hile in Photo Capture mode, use the LCD display on the back of the camera to direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture.
13 Hide/Show the LCD Icons The display of the icons on the LCD screen can be hidden or visible as desired . 1) Hold the MODE button for 2 seconds to hide the display of the icons on the screen. 2) Press th e MODE button again to re display the icons on the screen .
14 Macro Sw itch / Your camera contains a Macro Switch that allows you to manually enable or disable t he Macro mode on your camera. While using the Macro mode, you can capture images at close range (30 ~ 45 cm). To turn the Macro mode ON, slide the Mac ro Switch up on the side o f your camera to the flower icon.
15 Photo Capture M ode Menus The following are the menus that appear in your camera‟s Photo Ca pture Mode:.
16 Scene Menu The Sc ene Menu allows y o u to choose scene settings that allow your camera to adapt properly to your current environment. 1) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scrol l and select the chosen menu.
17 Image Qualit y Menu The Image Qu ality menu allow s y ou to select the d esired quality level of t he images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher image quality lev el will also take up more memory on your camera. 1) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode.
18 8) An icon reflecting your selection will display on the LCD screen. 9) Remember that this setting will be saved by your camera until you manually change the setting or restore the camera‟s default factory settings.
19 Distance from the camera – Th e subject‟s face must be no furth er than 8 to 9 feet (3.5 meters) f rom t he camera and the fa ce must cov er at least 20% (1 / 5th) of the picture as „se en‟ on the LCD screen.
20 Facing the camera - The face of the subject(s) you are photographing must be facing the camera and must hold the pose for at least 4 t o 5 seconds until the green square(s) ap pears around the subject`s face. Once a smile is detected the camera will automatically take the picture.
21 8) An icon reflecting your selection will display on the L CD screen 9) Remember that this setting will be saved by your camera until you manually change the setting or restore the camera‟s default factory settings. Color Effect Menu You can choose to add a color effect to the images taken with y our camera.
22 7) Pr ess the MODE button to ex it the menu and return to your previous mode. 8) An icon reflecting your selection will display o n the LCD screen 9) Remember that this setting will be saved by your camera until you manually change the setting or restore the camera‟s d efault factory settings.
23 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. 4) Press the SET button to select the desired op tion. 5) A selected option icon will appea r on the selected item. 6) Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item.
24 Metering Menu The Metering setting will affect how your camera focuses when capturing an image. Depending on your selection, the camera wil l be more sensitive to focusing on parti cular areas in the display and adjust the image color and lighting accordingly .
25 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options. 4) Press the SET button to select the desired op tion. 5) A selected option icon will appear on the selected item . 6) Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select the next menu item.

28 Keep in mi nd that formatting the memory card will permanently dele te al l of th e content on your camera ’s memory card . This option will delete all of the content at one time. If you w ould like to delete individual images, use the delete menu in the camera‟s P layback mode.
29 Photo Play back Mode W hen y ou first turn on the camera, the camera wil l be in Photo Capture mode by default . Press the MODE button twice to open the Playback Mod e. The playback mode will all ow you to review and edit photos and videos that you‟ve already taken with you camera.

31 6) To delete all the images (including all unlocked photos and v ideos) on your camera‟s memory card, select “Delete All Images”. 7) Press the SET button to select the desired op tion. 8) You will be asked to confirm your selection. 9) The photos will be deleted as desired.
32 Rot ate M enu Use this menu to rotate the pictures that you‟v e t aken with your camera. 1) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu. 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options.
33 Protect/Lock M enu Pictures and Videos taken with your camera can be protected or “locked” to prevent any deletion or alteration being made to the files. 1) Press the SET button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the chosen menu.
34 Slide Show Menu You can view a slideshow of all the pictures taken with your ca me ra by pressing the “Up” Quick Function button while in Playback mode. The Slideshow menu allow s you to set the interval length of time that each picture will display during the slideshow.
35 Video Capture Mode The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos w ith your digital camera. W hen the camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode.

41 ISO Menu The ISO menu allows you to set the level of sensitivity t hat your camera has to light in the surrounding environment. W hen the ISO level is increased, the image sensor in your camer a will be more sensitive to light and allow you to capture images in lo wer-light situations.

48 Video Playback Mode Menus The following are the menus that appear in your camera‟s Video Playback Mode: Delete Menu W hile in the Playback mode, you can delete videos from your camera through the delete menu. 1) View the image you would like to delete.
49 7) An icon will appear on the image with the selected ViviLink destinatio n site. 8) Remember that the ViviLink feature is deactiv ated by default. A ViviLink de stination will only be assigned to .
50 Installing the Soft w are You must be connected to the internet to install and run the Vivitar Experien ce Image Manager software. 1) Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation screen should automatically open. 2) On PC: The Vivitar Experience Image Manager Installer window appears.
51 Note: If you do not have int ernet access, you can still download media f rom the ca mera. Cli ck the “How to transfer photos and videos from my camera to my computer” button for instructions. 5) If you have internet access, the “Choose your language” window opens, choose your language and cl ick “Next” to open the next window.
52 Getting Photos and Videos from your Camera to Your Computer An SD card needs to be inserted. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doin g so will cancel the transfer of any files on their w ay to your computer. 1) Select the “Get Images” button from the Main menu.

54 Transfer media f rom my camera to my computer manually (Using M acin tosh) 1) Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer. 2) MSDC appears on the LCD. 3) The camera‟s device icon appears on the desktop. 4) Click on the device icon and open the DCIM folder and the folder ins ide to view the media files.
