4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the WESLO ¨ CADENCE DX8 treadmill. The CADENCE DX8 combines advanced technology with innovative design to let you enjoy an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise in the conve- nience and privacy of your home.
Assembly requires two people. Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials; do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. The following tools (not included) are required for assembly: an adjustable wrench and a phillips screwdriver .
6 5. Remove the backing from the Adhesive Clip (60). Press the Adhesive Clip onto the base of the Upright (1) in the indicated location. Press the Allen Wrench (61) into the Adhesive Clip. 6. Make sure that all parts are tightened before you use the treadmill.
7 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PERFORMANT LUBE TM W ALKING BEL T Y our treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE TM , a high-performance lubricant. IMPORT ANT : Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking plat- form.
STEP BY STEP CONSOLE OPERA TION Make sure that batteries are installed in the console. (See assembly step 4 on page 6.) Next, make sure that the power cord is properly plugged in. (See HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD on page 7). Step onto the foot rails of the treadmill.
9 Press the MODE button to select the desired monitor mode. The monitor offers five dif ferent modes to provide instant exercise feedback: ¥ SPEEDÑ displays your speed, in miles per hour . ¥ TIMEÑdisplays the elapsed time. ¥ DIST ANCEÑdis- plays the distance that you have walked or run, in miles.
10 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, unplug the power cord. Caution: Y ou must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) in order to raise, lower or move the treadmill. 1. Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right.
11 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, slide open the storage latch. Pivot the treadmill until the latch catch and the foot rail are past the storage latch. If necessary , turn the Incline leg as you lower the treadmill.
12 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below . Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. 13 PROBLEM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on SOLUTION: a. If the walking belt has shifted to the left , first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD . Using the allen wrench, turn the left rear roller adjust- ment bolt clockwise, and the right bolt counterclock- wise, 1/4 of a turn each.
14 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity . The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide.
SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown in the drawings below . Move slowly as you stretchÑnever bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
