T he Unit allows y ou to access the connected computer or KVM switch through the Internet by using a web bro wser . Using the latest compression technology , the Unit compresses the console signals and sends it through the network via TCP/IP protocols.

FEA TURES (CONTINUED) 5 A UT OMA TIC MONITORING AND NO TIFICA TION Monitors server functions and notifies users if the system becomes nonresponsi ve, loses power , has sudden video changes, or other signs of distress. It can either reset the computer automatically or notify the administrator via e-mail of any trouble.

9 HARDW ARE INS T ALLA TION INST ALLING THE UNIT INT O A SERVER RA CK T he Unit includes mounting brac kets for installation in 19-inch rac ks. 1. NETWORK CONFIGURA TION 13 Multiple Serv ers Mode T he Unit can be connected to a KVM switc h. During initial setup, the user must connect a keyboard, monitor , and a mouse to the local port to set up the Unit.

15 MONITORING SETTINGS SERVER MONIT ORING T he Unit ma y be configured here to detect certain common failure modes. Once enabled, the Unit will continuously monitor for a failure and, if it occurs, will log the event. It can also be configured to send out an e-mail to alert y ou to the problem.
16 3. Message F ormat Y ou can choose the type of e-mail message to send in the ev ent of a failure. T he default message length is normal; the short format is appropriate for messages sent to cell phones and pagers that ha ve a limited displa y . 4. Send E-mail for Alerts T his control must be enabled before any e-mail will be sent.
17 11. Alert If P ower Is Reset If the Unit is reset or powered-off for an y reason, this condition is activ ated when power is restored. T his might be used in combination with other controls above. T o enable, select “Y es”. T o disable, select “No”.

28 SECURITY SETTINGS Security Settings T here are a number of controls provided for the local console as well. T he master passw ord ma y alwa ys be used to change any settings of the system from the local console. When you ha ve connected to the Unit, you will arri ve at the Unit’ s home page. Checking the Host Status F rom the home page, you can immediately c heck the status of the host’ s screen and power .
