Tr av el Mode – What is it? VECTOR 990 International is designed t o operat e anywher e y ou tr avel. Because differ ent countries use different frequencie s to monitor tr affic, BEL TR ONICS has designed the ONL Y det ector capable of de tecting ALL tr affic r adar frequencie s used worldwide.
This allow s you to turn OFF an y frequency which y ou know to be gener ating false alerts. (Note: Y ou can also turn off a frequency if you kno w it is NO T used in your ar ea of travel.) F or example, because other de vices ar e shared with tr affic R adar (see T ypical F alse Alerts, page 2 3), you ma y notice a constant X band signal (9.

To achieve op timum performance, r egardless of which mounting position you choose, follo w the basic steps on the following page. 1. Consider occupant safe t y when selecting a mounting location. Choose a location wher e the unit will not be hazardous in ca se of an accident.
4. Slide the det ector onto the mounting br acke t until it “locks” into place. 5. T o adjust the angle of the br ack et, squeeze and hold the circular “but tons” on the side s of the br ack et; this will allo w y ou to angle the br acket t o y our windshield.
Understanding Radar, Laser and SW S ™ Three R adar Frequencie s Three micr ow av e frequencies ha ve been allocat ed by the FCC (F ederal Comm unications Commission) and are used for tr affic Radar . The y ar e: •X Band: 1 0.5 2 5 GHz •K Band: 2 4.

alert coupled with simultaneous identification of the R adar band (X, K or K a) and signal strength in the Te xt Display . The number of bar graph segment s display ed depends upon the strength of the signal r eceiv ed.
22 R adar signals tr av el in a straight line and do not pa ss through earth. Consequently , police Radar aimed at the cre st of a steep hill cannot be r eceived until you are a t or near the top. W arning time may be minimal (as in situation #2) since a str ong signal is not pre sent until you are near the cr est of the hill.
T ypical F alse Aler t (Radar) Ideally , a Radar det ector should only alert in the pre sence of police Radar . How ev er , because other device s shar e X band with police Radar , false aler ts sometimes occur . Generall y , a false signal produces only a short audio and visual aler t.
