Introduc tion 13 Re mo te control effect ive range Infra-R ed (IR) rem ote contr ol sensors ar e located on th e front and th e top of t he projecto r . The remot e control must be held at an angle within 30 degrees perpendicular to the projector's IR r emote control sensors to function correctly .
Positioning your project or 14 P ositioning your pr ojector Choosing a location Y our projector is desi gned to be in stalled i n one of four possible installation locations: Y our room lay out or personal preferenc e wi ll dictate which installation location y ou select.
Positioning your project or 15 O btaining a preferr ed projected image size The distanc e from the pr ojector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factor s in the projected image size. For example, if you ar e using an 120-inch scr een, the r ecommended projection distance is 4246 mm and the ve r tical offset is 137 mm.
Connection 16 Connection When connecting a signa l source to the projector , be sure to: 1. T urn all equipment o ff before maki ng any c onnections. 2.
Connection 17 • Many notebooks do not turn on their external video ports when connected to a projector. Usually a key combo li ke FN + F3 or CRT/LCD key turns the external display on/off. Locate a function key labeled CRT/LCD or a function key with a mo nitor symbol on the notebook.
Connection 18 Pla y ing sound through the project or Y ou can mak e use of the pr ojector (mix ed mono) speak er in you r presentations, and also connect se parate amp lified sp eakers to the AUDIO OUT sock et of the pr ojector .
Connection 19 • Y ou mi ght get fe edback noise from the microphone wh en you are too close to the speaker of the projector . Mo ve the microphone awa y from the speak er of the pr ojector . The greater volume you require, the greater distance you need to be away from the speaker to prevent the noise.
Operat ion 20 Operation Star ting up the projecto r 1. Plug the pow er cord i nto the project or and into a power outlet. T urn on th e power outlet s witch (where fitted) . Check that the PO WER indic ator light on the projector lights orange after pow er has been applied.
Operation 21 A djusting the projected image A djusting the projection angle The projector is equipp ed with 1 quick- release adjuster foot and 1 rear adjuster foot. Thes e adjusters change t he image height and proj ection angle. T o adjust the pr ojector: 1.
Operat ion 22 Us i n g t h e m e n u s The pr ojector is equi pped with On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for mak ing various adjustments and settings. Below is the overview of the OSD menu. The following example descr ibes how to set the OSD language. 1.
Operation 23 Securing the projecto r U sing a securit y cable lock The pr ojector has t o be installed in a saf e place to prevent theft. Otherwise, purcha se a lock, such as the K ensin gton lock, to se cure the proje ctor . Y ou can lo cate a Kensington lock slot on the rear side of the projector .
Operat ion 24 If y ou forget the passwor d If the password functio n is activated, you will be asked to ent er the six-digit password every time you turn on the projector . If you enter the wrong password, the password e rror message as pictured to the right displays lasting for 3 seconds, and the INPUT P ASSW ORD message follows.
Operation 25 Disabling the passwor d funct ion T o disable password pr otection, go back to the SYSTEM SETUP: Advanced > Security Settings > Change Security Settings menu after opening the OSD menu system. Press MODE/ENTER. The mess age “INPUT P ASSW ORD” displa ys.
Operat ion 26 S w itching input signal The projector can be connected to multiple devices at the same time. However , it can only display one full screen at a time.
Operation 27 Magnifyi ng and searching for details If y ou need to find t he details on the pr ojected pictur e, magnify the pictu re. U se the directio n arrow k eys for navigating the picture. • U si ng th e re mo te con tro l 1. Press ZOOM+/ZOOM- to displa y the Zoom bar .
Operat ion 28 About the aspect ratio • In the pictures below , the black portions are inactive areas and the white portions are active areas. • OSD menus can be displayed on those unused black areas. 1. Auto : Scales an image proportionally to fi t the projector's native resolution in its horizontal or v er tical width.
Operation 29 Optimizing the i mage Us i n g W a l l C o l o r In the situation where you ar e projecting onto a c olored surface such as a painted wall which may not be whit e, the W all Color featur e can help correct the pr ojected pictur e’ s colors to prev ent possible color differenc e between the sourc e and pr ojected pictures.
Operat ion 30 8. The confirmation message “ Setting Sav ed ” displays. Fine-tuning the image quality in user modes Ac cording to the detected sig nal ty pe, there are some user-definable func tions available when User 1 or User 2 is selected.
Operation 31 3D Color Management In most installatio n situations, color mana gement will not be necessary , such as in classroom, meeting room, or lounge room situ ations where lig hts remain on, or where building exte rnal w indo ws allow daylight int o the room.

Operation 33 R emote paging operations Connect the pr ojector to your PC or n otebook with a USB cable prior to using the paging function. See "Connection" on page 16 for details.
Operat ion 34 Locking contr ol keys With the control keys on the projector locked, you can prevent your projector settings from being cha nged accidentally (by chi ldren, for example). When the Panel Key Lo ck is on, no contr ol keys on the project or will operate ex cept POWER .

Operation 43 6. T o hav e access to the Ad min page, you n eed to ente r a password. The page pro v ides more netw ork settings. The default password is “0000” . If y ou want to ch ange the password, enter th e Basic p age. The Basic page allo ws you t o change the passwo rd and set the maximum number of connected computers.
Operat ion 44 The W ired LAN page allows y ou to adjust the W ired LAN settings. The W ireless LAN page allo ws you to adjus t the Wir eless LAN se ttings. The maximum length for SSID is 16 byt es. Please use different SSID when more than two projectors are connecting through w ireless LAN.
Operation 45 The Mail p age allows y ou to send alert e-mail t o your IT S administrator . Y ou can first try the Mail T est functi on to check if the Alert Mail works. 7. These quick buttons are always provided on the we b page for you to operate the projector .
Operat ion 46 Displaying images through Q Pr esenter Downloading and installing Q Pr esenter Q Pr esenter is an application ru nning o n the host PC. It helps c onnect your c omputer t o an available netw ork projector and transfer the deskt op contents to the netw ork projector via local network connection.

The Sp ecial Feature page provides some advanced functi ons to manage the projected images. • T o display a full screen, click F ull Screen. • T o display a part ial screen, click Se lectable. A square appears on y our screen. Y ou can adju st its size a nd place it wh ere y ou want to p roject.

Operation 49 Pr esentin g from a USB R eader This feature displays a slide show of images stored on a USB flash drive connected to the project or . It can eliminate the need for a c omputer sour ce. Supported image formats: • A square box will display on the filename for unidentified characters.
Operat ion 50 Shutting down the projector 1. Press POWER and a confirm ation message will display prompting you. If y ou don't respond in a few seconds, the message w ill disappear .

Maintenance 60 M aintenanc e Care of the pr ojector Y our pr ojector needs littl e maintenanc e. The only thing y ou need to do on a regular basis is to keep the lens and case clean. Nev er remov e any parts of the pr ojector ex cept the lamp . Contact y our dealer if other parts need re placing.
Maintenance 61 Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour Whe n the project or is in operatio n, the duration (in hou rs) of lamp usage i s automatically calculated by the built-in timer . See "Setting Lamp Mode as Economic" below for more information on Economic mode.
Maintenance 62 T iming of re placing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears suggesting it is time to replac e the lamp , please install a new lamp or consult your d ealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in th e projecto r and in some instanc es the lamp ma y explode.
Maintenance 63 R eplacing the lamp • T o reduce the risk of electrical shock, alway s turn the projector off and disconnect the power cord before changing the lamp. • T o reduce the risk of severe burns, allow the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes before replacing the lamp.

Us e the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the project or . • Pulling it too quickly may cause the lamp to break and scatter broken glas s in the projector . • Do not place the lamp in locat ions where water might splash on it, children can reach it, or near flammable materials.
