Introducti on 15 R emote control effectiv e range Infra-Red (IR) remo te control sensors are located on the front and the ba ck of the projec tor . The remot e control must be held at an angle within 30 degrees perpendicular to the projector's IR remote control sens ors to functi on correctly .

The native r esolution of the pr ojector is 800 x 600 pix els, which is a 4 to 3 aspect ratio (expressed as 4:3).

Operat ion 24 Operation Start up 1. Plug the power c ord into the pr ojector and into a wall socket. T ur n on the wall so cket switch (where fitted) . Check that t he Pow e r i nd i c at o r on the proje ctor lig hts or ange af ter power has been applied.
Operation 25 U tilizing the pow er -on lock function For security purposes and to help prevent un authorized use, the pr ojector inc ludes an option for setting up passwor d securit y . The pas swo rd c an be s et th rou g h th e O n- Scr ee n Display (OSD) menu.
Operat ion 26 Entering the passwor d recall pr ocedur e Press and hold AU T O on the pr ojector or remote control for 3 seconds. The pr ojector w ill display a coded number on the screen. W r ite down the number and turn off your projector . S eek help from the local BenQ serv ice cent er to decode the number .
Operation 27 S w itching input signal The pr ojector can be co nnected to multiple devices at the same time. H owever , it can only display one full screen at a time. Please decide i f you want to acti vate the qu ick aut o search function by performing the following st eps.
Operat ion 28 A djusting the projected image A djusting the projection angle The projector is equipp ed wi th 1 quick-release adjuster foot and 1 rear adjuster foot. Th ese adjusters change t he image height and proj ection angle. T o adjust the project or: 1.
Operation 29 Correc ting keystone K eystoning refers to the situation where the proj ected image is noticeably wider at either the top or bott om. It occurs when the projec tor is not perpendicular to the screen. T o corr ect this, besides adjus ting the height of the pr ojector , you will need t o manually correct it following ONE of th ese steps.
Operat ion 30 • Using the OSD menu 1. Pres s MENU/Exit and then press Left or Right until the Displa y menu is highlighted. 2. Press Down to highl ight Digit al Zoo m . 3. Press MODE/Enter and press Up to mag nify the pict ure to a desired size. 4. Press MODE/Enter to activa te the Pan funct ionality .
Operation 31 Optimizing the image Selecting a picture mod e The project or is preset with sev eral predefine d picture modes so that you can choose one to suit your operating environment and input source picture type. T o select a operation mode that suits your need, you can f ollow one of the follo wi ng steps.

Operat ion 36 Y ou can set the blank time in the SYSTEM SETUP : Basic > Blank Timer menu t o let the project or return the image aut omatically after a pe ri od of time when there is no action taken on the blank screen. Once BLANK is pressed, the projector enters Economic mode autom atically .

Operat ion 46 Syst em setup: Advanc ed m enu Auto Power Off (Disable) This function allows the pr ojector to turn off auto matically if no input signal is detect ed after a set period of time. Press Left / Right on the project or or remot e control to set the duration before the pr ojector is turned off.
Operation 47 Lamp Settings La mp mo de (Normal) T oggles the projector lamp be tween Normal and Economic modes. Using Economic mod e reduces syst em noise and powe r consumption by 20%. I f the Economic mo de is se lected, t he lig ht output w il l be reduced and result in darker projecte d images.
Operat ion 48 Infor m at ion menu This menu shows you the cur rent oper ating s tatus of the projector . Some picture adjustments are available only when certain input sources are in use.
Maintenance 49 M aintenanc e Care of the projector Y our pr ojector needs li ttle maintena nce. The only thing you need to do on a r egular basis is to keep the lens clean. Nev er remov e any parts of the projector e xcept the lamp. Contact your dealer if other pa r ts need replaci ng.
Maintenance 50 Lamp information Calculation of lamp hour Whe n the project or is in opera tion, the duration (in h ours) of lamp usage i s automaticall y calculated by the built-in timer .
Maintenance 51 R eplacing the lamp • T o reduce the risk of electrical shock, alwa ys turn the proj ector off and disconnect the power cord before changing the lamp. • T o reduce the risk of severe burns, allow the projector to cool for at leas t 45 minute s before replacing the lamp.
Maintenance 52 4. Remo ve the lamp cor ds from the slots. 5. Disconnect the lamp connector by pushing it against the p rojector whi le pulling it up. 6. Loosen the screw th at secures the lamp. 7. Lift the handle so tha t it stands up. U se the handle to slo wly pull the lamp out o f the projector .
