Connection 28 Connecting a Component Video sour ce de vice Examine your Video sour ce device to determine if it has a set of unused Component Video output jacks a vaila ble: • If so , you can continue with this pr ocedure. • If not, you will need to reassess which me thod you can use to connect to the device.

Operation 32 Adjusting the pr ojected imag e Adjusting the pr ojection angle The projector is equipp ed with 1 quick-release adjuster f oot and 1 rear adjuster foot. These adjusters change the ima ge height and projection angle. T o adjust the projector : 1.
Operation 33 Fine-tuning the imag e size and clarity 1. Sharpen the image by using the focus ring/ focu s sl ide lever . Corr ecting k eystone K eystoning r efers to the s ituation wher e the proj ected image is noticeably wider at either the top or bottom.
Operation 34 Using the menus The projector is equipp ed with On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjusents an d settings. Below is the ov erview of the OSD menu. The following example describes ho w to set the OSD language. 1. Press MENU/EXIT on the projector or remote contr o l to turn the OSD menu on.
Operation 35 Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The projector has to be installed in a safe pl ace to prev ent theft. Otherwise, purchase a lock, such as the K ensington lock, to secur e the projector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the rear side of the pr ojector .
Operation 36 entering another six-digit passw ord, or if yo u did not recor d the password in this manual, and you absolutel y do not remember it, you can use the passw ord re call procedur e . See "Entering the passwor d recall pr ocedure" on page 36 for details.
Operation 37 Disabling the pass w ord function T o disable passw o rd pr otection, go back to the SY STEM SETUP: Advanced > Security Settings > Change Security Settings > Power on L ock menu afte r opening the OSD menu system. Select Of f by pressing / .
Operation 38 In the unlik ely ev ent that you connect the projector to a D VD pla yer via the pr ojector's HDMI input and the projecte d picture displa ys wr ong colors, please change the color space to YUV . 1. Press MENU/EXIT and then press / until the SOURCE menu is high lighted.
Operation 39 Selecting the aspect ratio The 'aspect ratio' is the ratio of the image width to the image height. With the advent of digital signal processing, digital displa y devices lik e this projector can dynamically stretch and scale the image output to a different aspect than that of the image input signal.
Operation 40 4. 16:9 : Scales an image so that it is displa yed in the center of the screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio . This is most suitable for images which are alr ead y in a 16:9 aspect, like high definition TV , as it displa ys them without aspect alteration.
Operation 41 Setting the User 1/User 2 mode There ar e two user -definable mode s if the current a vailable picture modes are not suitable for y our need. Y ou can use one of the pictur e modes (except the User 1/User 2) as a starting point and customize the settings.
Operation 42 Adjusting Sharpness The higher the value, the sharper the pictur e becomes. The lowe r the value, the softer the picture becomes . Adjusting Brilliant C olor This feature utilizes a new color -processing algorithm and system level enhancements to enable higher brightness while pro viding truer , more vibrant colors in picture.
Operation 43 2. Press MODE/ ENTER and the 3D Color Management page displa ys. 3. Highlight Primary Co lor and press / to select a color from among Red, Y ellow , Green, Cyan, Blue, or Magenta. 4. Press to highlight Hue and pr ess / to select its range.
Operation 44 Cr eating your o wn star tup screen In addition to select ing the proj ector preset st artup screen fr om among BenQ logo, Blac k or Blue screen, y ou can make your o wn startup screen that is an image projected fr om your computer or video sour ce.
Operation 45 Setting the pr esentation timer The presentation timer can indicate the pr es entation time on the screen to help you achieve better time management when giving pr esentat ions.
Operation 46 Remote paging operations Connect the projector to y our PC or notebook with a USB cable prior to using the paging function. See "Connecting a computer" on page 23 f or details.
Operation 47 Utilizing F A Q function The INFORMATION menu contains possible solutions to problems encounter ed by users regarding image quality , installation , special feature operation and servic e information.
Operation 48 Operating in a high altitude en vir onment W e recommend you use the High Alti tude Mode when your en vironment is between 1500 m –3000 m above sea le vel, and ambient temperatur e is between 0°C–35°C. Do not use the High Altitude Mode if your altitude is betw e en 0 m and 1500 m and ambient temperature is between 0°C and 35°C.
Operation 49 2. Highlight Power on/off Ring Ton e and sele ct Off. The only wa y to change P o wer on/off ring tone is setting On or Off here. Setting the sound mute or changing the sound le vel will not affect the P ower on/off ring tone.
Operation 50 Contr olling the projector thr ough a LAN en vir onment Network Settings allow you to manage th e pr ojector from a computer using a w eb bro wser when the computer and the projector are properl y connected to the same local area ne twork.

Operation 54 The Confer ence Contro l page allows you to co ntrol computer’ s displa y sta tus of all the computers linked to this projector . The Crestr on page is only a vailable when you are on a Wir ed LAN network. It also allows you to contr ol the projector r emotely .
Operation 55 i. These buttons function the same as the ones on the OSD menus or remote control. See "2. PICTURE" on page 76 and "Remote contr ol" on page 13 for details. The Menu button can also be used to go back to previous OSD menu, e xit and sav e menu settings.

Operation 57 The Basic page allo ws you to change the passw ord and select connected pers ons. The number of connected persons ma y affect the network displa y performance.
Operation 58 The Wired LAN page allows you to adjust the Wired LAN sett ings. The Wireless LAN page allo ws you to adjust the Wirless LAN settings. Max. length for SSID string is 16 bytes. Plea se use a differ ent SSID when more than two projectors ar e connecting through wireless LAN.
Operation 59 The Mail page a llows you to send al ert e-mail to your ITS administrator . Y ou can first tr y the Mail T est function to check if the Aler t Mail works.
Operation 60 Displa ying ima g e thr ough Q Presenter The Q Pr esenter is an a pplication running on the host PC . It connects to an available network displa y and transfers the desktop co ntents to the network displa y via local network connection. Be sure to turn off other vir tual network control programs before using Q Pr e senter .

Operation 65 Pr esenting Fr om a USB Reader This fatur e displa ys a slide show of images stor ed on a USB flash driv e connected to the projector . It can eliminate the need for a computer source. Imag e File T ypes USB Reader displays images files in JPEG, GIF , TIFF , PNG and BMP formats.

Maintenance 90 Maintenance Car e of the pr ojector Y o ur projector needs little maintenance . The only thing you need to do on a regular basis is to keep the lens and case clean. Nev er remo ve any parts of the projector except th e lamp. Contact y our dealer if other parts need replacing.
Maintenance 91 Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour When the projector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of l amp usag e is automatically calculated by the built-in timer .
