7 SECT IO N 5: OP ER ATION OPERA TING CONTROLS SHIF T LEVE R The shift l ev er is lo cated in t he cen ter of the h andle panel. T he shift le ver ma y be moved into one of eight positio ns. Run engi ne with throttle in the f ast position . Use the s hift lev er to deter min e ground sp eed.
8 THR OTTLE CO N TR O L The thrott le control is loc ated on the engin e. It regu- lates the speed of the engi ne. See Figure 10. BEFORE ST ARTING WARNING: Observe all Warn ing Labels on the sn ow thro wer prio r to use. Se e Fig ure 2 . Your snow thrower is shipped with oil; however, you must c heck the o il level befor e operating .
9 Follow all inst ruction s carefull y. Deter mine th at your house wi ring is a three wire g rounded s ystem. As k a licensed electric ian if yo u are not c ertain. If your house wi ring sys tem is no t a three-wi re grounded system , do not us e this elec tric star ter under a ny con- ditions .
10 SECTION 6: ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: NEVER attempt to clean chute or make any adjustmen ts while engine is running. Refer to label in Fig ure 2 in s afe ty se cti on. CHUTE ASSEMBL Y ADJUSTMENT The distan ce sn ow is thrown can be adjusted by adjusti ng the a ngle of the chute as sembly.
11 Minor carbureto r adjustment may be required to co m- pensate for differences in fu el, tem perature, altitude and lo ad. Refer to th e separate engine manual pack e d with your unit for carburetor adj ustment i nformation . 14 DRIVE BEL T 1. Follow steps 1 th rough 4 o f previo us instru c- tions. 2. Pull id ler pu lley up , and lift b elt off eng ine pulle y and fric tion wheel di sc. See Figure 21 . 3. Back ou t the stop bolt un til the su pport brac ket rests o n the auger pulley .
