6 SECTION 2: SLOPE GUAGE 15 ° SIGHT AND HOLD THIS LEVEL WITH A VERTICAL TREE A POWER POLE A CORNER OF A BUILDING OR A F ENCE POST F O L D O N D O T T E D L I N E , R E P R E S E N T I N G A 1 5 ° S L O P E Do not mo w on inclin es with a slo pe in e xcess of 15 de grees (a rise of a pp ro ximately 2-1/2 f eet e v er y 10 f eet).
7 SECTION 3: UNPACKING & ASSEMBLING YOUR RIDER MOWER • Remove al l screws and staples fr om crate. • Holding the sides of the crate firmly , lift the top of the cr ate up a nd keep it aside. A void t ire pun ctures . • Remove an d discard pl astic bag c overing the un it.
8 • Pivot th e hood assembl y up and lower the cutting height adju stmen t lever to the l owest posi tion. • Remove the two wing nuts (A and B in Figure 4 ) from two ends of the grassca tcher chute. • Loosen th e two wing nut s (C and D in Figur e 4 ) in the m iddle o f the chute .
9 SECTION 4: KNOW YOUR RIDER MOWER Compare the illustrati ons in Fig ure 8 with your r ider mower to fam iliarize yourself with the loca tion of va rious control s and adjustme nts. The ope ration of any rider mower can resul t in foreig n objects be ing thrown into the operator ’ s eyes, causi ng severe ey e damage.

11 SECTION 5: OPERATING YOUR RIDER MOWER Using Throttle/Choke Control The throt tle/chok e control is used to inc rease or decrease the speed of the eng ine.The F AST and the SLOW po sitions are marked with illus trations of a rabbit and a turtle respe ctive ly.
12 • Pivot the hood asse mbly up. Pul l up the grassca tcher bag by the handle an d take it to the proper disposa l site. See Figu re 10 . • Hold the bag away from your body. Push down on the bag lever and let the bottom section of the bag fall downwards.
13 SECTION 6: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Do not at any time make a ny adjustme nt to riding mower wi thout firs t stopping engine and disconne cting spark plug wire. Brake P edal During norma l operati on of the rider mow er, the brak e is subje ct to wear and te ar.
14 Seat P os ition The sea t position on the rid er mow er can be a djusted to maximize th e operat or ’ s conve nience. • Stop the mowe r complet ely and engag e the parki ng brake. Tur n ignition off. • Pivot the hood assembl y up. • Loosen th e four self- tapping scr ews on the botto m of the seat.
15 • Complete ly loosen , but do not remo ve, the top hex nut out of the three hex nuts tha t hold the he x bolt and the ferr ule on the dec k hanger link assembl y. Do not try to loosen or tighten t he bottom nut. • Thread the m iddle nu t as far down as pos sible.
16 • Using a 9/1 6 ” wrench, loo sen the he x nut on the idler pul ley. See Figur e 15. • Remove be lt from aro und deck pul ley, id ler pulley , and the eng ine pulley . • Place the new belt arou nd the deck pu lley and the engine pul ley maki ng sure that the bel t is routed inside the belt kee pers.
17 SECTION 8: MAINTAINING YOUR RIDER MOWER General Recommendations • Always observe sa fety rules when perfor ming any maintenan ce. • The warrant y on this ri der mower do es not cover items t hat ha ve been subjec ted t o opera tor abuse or neglig ence.
18 • The spa rk plug shoul d be cleane d and the gap reset onc e a season. Spark plug re placemen t is recomm ended at the start of each mo wing season .
19 SECTION 9: OFF-SEASON STORAGE If the machin e is to be in operativ e for a period lo nger than 30 days , prepare for st orage as foll ows. Rider Mower • Clean the en gine an d the entire un it thorough ly. • Lubr icate all p ivot point s. Wi pe th e enti re machin e with an oil ed rag to pr otect the surfac es.
