2 Important safety inf ormation These warnings are provided in the inter ests of your safety. Ensure that you under stand them all before installing or usi ng the appliance. Your safety is of paramount importance. If you are unsure about any of the information in this book contact the Customer Care Depart ment.

7 Before using the ap pliance Rating plate This is situated on the lower fro nt frame of the appliance and can be seen upon opening the door. Alternatively the rating plate may also be found on the back or top of some models (wher e applicable). The a ppliance must be prote cted b y a suitably rated fuse or circuit br eaker.
8 Cookware Baking trays, dishes etc., should not be placed directly against the grid c overing th e fan at the back of the o ven. Do no t use baking trays larger than 3 0cm x 35cm (12” x 14”) as they will restrict the circulation of heat and may affect performance.

10 2. How to set the count down The 'Countdown' g ives an audible r eminder at the end of an y period of cooking. This cooking period may be up to 2 h rs 3 0 mins.
11 A) To set the timer t o switch on and off automatica lly i) Ensure th e electricity su pply is switched ON and that the correct time of day is displayed, e.
12 B) To set the timer to switch off only i) Ensure the electricity supp ly is s witched ON and that the correct time of day is displayed, e.g. 10.00am a s Fig. 9. ii) Place food in the oven. iii) T o set t he len gth of cooking t ime, press the Selector Con trol button un til the 'Cook Time' ( ) indicator neon is illuminated.
13 To return the app liance to manual At th e e nd of a timed cooking period, the ‘End Time’ indicator neon w ill flash and an alarm will sound for up to 2 minutes. i) To stop the sound press any of the three buttons, as Fig. 13. ii) The display will return to the time of day.
14 The ceramic hob Do not use the appliance if t he ceramic g lass is dama ged. If a fault or crack be comes vis ible during coo king, disconnec t the appliance immediately from the electricity supply and contact your local Service Force Cen tre.
15 Some switch ing ON an d OF F w hen cooking at high te mperatures, e.g. deep fat frying is quite normal, causes no da mage to the hob and little delay in coo king times. Excessive switching may however be caused by th e use of an unsuitable saucepan or a saucep an which is smaller than the heated area.
16 The dual grill CAUTION – Accessible p arts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children sh ould be kept away. The grill is a dual circuit g rill w hich means that the full are a of the grill can be u sed or for economy purpose s, the centre section only can be u sed when coo king smaller quantities of food.
17 The grill pan and handle The g rill pan is supplied wi th a removable handle. To insert the handle, press th e button on the handle with the thumb an d p ivot slightly upwards inserting the lip into the widest part of the bracket. M ove the handle towards the left, lower into position and release the button.
18 Hints and tips • Most foods sh ould be placed on the grid in the grill pan to allow m aximum circulation o f air to lift the food out of the fats and juices. • Adjust grid an d grill pan run ner position to allow for differ ent thicknesses of foods.

20 The secon d oven The second oven is th e smaller of t he two ovens. It is hea ted by elements in the top oven an d bottom of the oven. It is de signed for cooking smaller quantities of food. It gives especially good results if used to cook fruit cakes, sweet or savour y flans or quiche.
21 Hints and tips • Arrange the shelves in the required positions before switchin g the ov en on. Shelf position s are counte d fr om the bottom upwards.
22 The main oven The fan oven is particularly suitable for cooking lar ger quantities of food. The advantages of fan oven co oking are: Preheating The fan oven quickly reaches its temperature, so it is not usua lly necessar y to preheat the oven.
23 To fit the main ove n shelves The shelves should be fitted with the straight rods uppermost on the fr ame and the f orms towards the back of th e oven. If not fitted correctly the anti- tilt and s afety sto p mechanism will be affe cted. Hints and tips • Arrange the shelves in the requ ired positions before switching the oven on.
24 Cooking cha rt The oven temperatur es are intended as a guide onl y. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the temperatures to suit individual pref erences and requirements.

26 Defrost feature This function d efrosts most foo ds faster than more co nventional metho ds. It is particularly suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold e.g. cream filled gateaux, cakes covered with icings or frostings, cheesecakes, biscuits, scone s, etc.
27 • It is pr eferable to thaw fish, me at and poultry slowl y in t he fridge. Ho wever, this process can be accelerated by using the defrost function. Small or thin fish fillets, frozen peeled prawns, cube d or minced meat, liver, thin ch ops, steaks etc.
28 Care and cleaning Before cleanin g always allow th e appliance t o cool down. Cleaning materials Before using an y cleaning mater ials on your appliance, che ck that they are suitable and that their use is recommended by the manufacturer. Cleaners that contain bleach sho uld NOT be used as they may dull the su rface finishes.
29 Cleaning the c ontrol knobs and handles It is stron gly recommended that only hot soapy water is used for cleaning th e con trol knobs and handles. ANY OTHER CLEANING MAT ERIALS MAY DULL THE SURFACE FINISH. Cleaning the cera mic hob Make sure the ceramic glass is cool before cleaning.
30 To remove more st ubborn marks 1. Bar Keepers Friend may be used to clean off more stubborn stains or to remove discolourations. It may be necessary to rub the marks hard for several m inutes. 2. Use a plastic pad speciall y for non- stick saucepans with Bar-Keepe rs F riend for removal of more stubborn soilage.
31 Hints and tips To reduce hob soilage: • Make sure the b ottom of the saucepan and the cooking area are clean and dr y before cooking begins. • Ensure saucepans are large enough to accommodate food to avoid boil overs. • If possible, wipe up sp ills an d splatte rs as they occur, but take car e to avoid steam burns.
32 Cleaning the s helves and grill/oven furniture All removable parts, ca n be washed in the dishwasher. The grill pa n, grill pan grid and o ven shelves may be cleaned using a soap impregn ated steel wool pad . Soaking first in h ot soapy water will make cleaning easier.
33 Cleaning the door(s ) To prevent da maging or weakening the door glass panels avoid the use of the fo llowing: • Household detergents and bleac hes • Impregnated pads uns uitable for non- stick.
34 If the door glass panel becomes chipped o r has d eep scratches the glass will be weakened and m ust be replaced to p revent the possibility of the pane l shattering. Please contact your local Service Fo rce Centre who will be pleased to advise furthe r.
35 Something not work ing Please carry out the following checks on your appliance before calling a Service Engineer. It may b e that the problem is a simple one that you can solve yourself withou t the expense of a service call.
