3 1. Slide off the battery cover . 2. Inser t the battery so that the connectors align. 3. Replace the batter y cover . Charge the bat tery 1. Connect the smaller end of the USB cable to the BlackBerry Smar t Card Reader . 2. Connect the larger end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your compu ter.
4 About the BlackBerr y Smart Card Reader driver The BlackBerry Smart Card Reader driver is preinstalled on the BlackBerry Smar t Card Reader . Visit www.blackberry.com/pro ducts/accessories/ smartcard.shtml for information about the BlackBerry Smar t Car d Reader driver system requirements.
5 7. Double-click the Application Loader icon. 8. Click Next. 9. Select the BlackBerry Smart Car d Reader check box. 10 . Click Next. 11 . Click Finish.

8 T urn on or turn of f the Bluetooth radio T o turn on the Bluetoo th radio, on the BlackBerr y Smart Card Reader , press the Actio n button. T o turn off the Bluetooth radio, on the BlackBerry Smar t Card Reader , press and hold the Action button.

16 • Long Term Timeout: Specify the period of time that passes before pairing information is cleared. • Inactivity Timeout: Specify the period of idle time that passes before pairing information is cleared.
17 Reader is only active when performing smart card operations such as importing cer tificates. In Disabled mode, the BlackBerry Smar t Card Reader is always ac tive. In Par tial mode , the BlackBerr y Smar t Card Read er is active when it is unlock ed.
